UPSC CAPF GK Questions 2026

Static general knowledge fills most of Paper-I in UPSC CAPF. Of the six areas the CAPF (ACs) 2026 notice lists for General Ability and Intelligence, four are static: General Science; Indian Polity and Economy; History of India; and Indian and World Geography. The notice's wording shows the depth expected. Polity covers the political system and the Constitution of India, social systems, public administration, security issues and human rights with their indicators. Economy covers economic development in India. History covers social, economic and political aspects, including the growth of nationalism and the freedom movement. Geography covers physical, social and economic aspects of India and the world. General Science asks about everyday scientific phenomena and new areas such as Information Technology, Biotechnology and Environmental Science. This page holds GK24's topic-wise GK notes for UPSC CAPF, in English and Hindi, written as short facts and tables so that a topic can be revised in one sitting: Indian Polity, Indian History, Geography, Indian Economy, General Science, Environment and Ecology, Computer, and Art and Culture. The same notes serve Paper-II, whose essay part suggests modern Indian history, the freedom struggle, geography, polity and economy as topics. Read one topic at a time, then solve its quiz and the CAPF previous-year questions on this site to check what you have retained. General Mental Ability, the sixth area, is reasoning and arithmetic, and needs separate practice.

The mirrors used as rear-view mirrors in vehicles are

  1. A.concave
  2. B.convex
  3. C.cylindrical
  4. D.plane
Show answer

A convex mirror always forms an erect, diminished image, so it shows a much wider area of the road behind than a flat mirror of the same size, which is why it is used as a rear-view or side-view mirror.

Q966.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2019, GATHard

Two metallic wires A and B are made using copper. The radius of wire A is r while its length is l. A dc voltage V is applied across the wire A, causing power dissipation, P. The radius of wire B is 2r and its length is 2l and the same dc voltage V is applied across it causing power dissipation P₁. Which one of the following is the correct relationship between P and P₁?

  1. A.P = 2P₁
  2. B.P = P₁/2
  3. C.P = 4P₁
  4. D.P = P₁
Show answer
Correct answer: B. P = P₁/2

Wire B has half the resistance of wire A, and at the same voltage power is V²/R, so B dissipates twice the power: P₁ = 2P, which means P = P₁/2.

  2. B.light and long wavelength infrared.
  3. C.light and short wavelength infrared.
  4. D.both short and long wavelength infrared.
Show answer

Q969.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2022, GATMedium

A wooden box of mass 2 kg and dimensions (30 cm x 15 cm x 10 cm) is placed on a table with sides 30 cm and 10 cm touching the tabletop. Which one of the following is the approximate pressure exerted on the table?

  1. A.111.1 N/m²
  2. B.222.2 N/m²
  3. C.333.3 N/m²
  4. D.666.6 N/m²
Show answer
Correct answer: D. 666.6 N/m²

Pressure is force divided by the area in contact: the weight is 2 kg × 10 m/s² = 20 N and the face touching the table is 0.30 m × 0.10 m = 0.03 m², so the pressure is 20 ÷ 0.03 ≈ 666.6 N/m².
