Static GK, one subject at a time

General knowledge in competitive exams has two parts. Current affairs changes every day. Static GK does not: it is the fixed set of facts about the Constitution, rivers, dynasties, national parks, important days and the like. This section covers static GK in 16 subjects, from Indian Polity, History and Geography to Computer Awareness, Sports GK and Important Days and Dates.

The GK notes are topic-wise and follow the exam syllabus, so you can study one topic, finish it and move on. New topics are added regularly. Each note is written in English and Hindi, sticks to the points that exams test, and comes with its own topic quiz and practice MCQs, so you can check yourself as soon as you finish reading.

Questions that have appeared in a real exam are marked with the exam name and year, so you can see how a topic is actually asked. Each subject also has its own page of previous-year questions (PYQs), and so does each exam. A steady plan works well: pick a subject, read a topic note, take its quiz, and solve the PYQs once the subject is done.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between static GK and current affairs?

Static GK is the fixed part of general knowledge: history, polity, geography, science, important days and similar facts that do not change. Current affairs is recent news. Most competitive exams test both, so study static GK subject by subject and current affairs daily.

Which GK subjects are covered?

Sixteen: Indian Polity, Indian History, Geography, Indian Economy, General Science, Science and Technology, Environment and Ecology, Art and Culture, Static GK, Indian States and UTs, Banking and Financial Awareness, Computer Awareness, Sports GK, Books and Authors, Awards and Honours, and Important Days and Dates.

Are the GK notes based on the exam syllabus?

Yes. The notes are organised topic-wise along the syllabus of exams such as SSC, Banking, Railway, UPSC and state exams, and new topics are added regularly. Each topic note has its own quiz and practice MCQs to check what you have read.

Can I read GK notes in Hindi?

Yes. Every GK note is written in both English and Hindi, and so are its MCQs and explanations. You can study in the language of your exam and switch to the other when a term is easier to understand there.

How should I start preparing GK for exams?

Start with a subject your exam asks about often, such as Polity, History or Geography. Read one topic note, take its topic quiz, and move to the next topic. When the subject is done, solve its previous-year questions and revise the ones you got wrong.
