Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data GK24 ("we") collects when you use gk24.in and the GK24 app, why we collect it and the choices you have. It is written to meet the requirements of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

What we collect

• Account data: name, email address or mobile number, password (stored only as a secure hash) and, if you sign in with Google, the basic profile Google shares with us.
• Activity data: quiz attempts and scores, bookmarks, target exams and language preference, so that your history and progress work across devices.
• Usage data: pages viewed, approximate location from IP address, device and browser type, collected through analytics tools to understand how the site is used.
• Cookies: a session cookie to keep you signed in, a consent cookie to remember your choice, and analytics or advertising cookies only after you consent where consent is required.

You can read GK24 without an account. Reading does not require any personal data beyond what your browser sends automatically.

Why we use it

To provide the service (sign-in, quiz history, bookmarks), to improve content and performance, to show relevant content and advertising, to keep the service secure and to respond to your requests. We process account and activity data on the basis of your consent, given when you register, and usage data to operate and improve the service.

Third parties

We use third-party services such as Google Analytics for measurement and Google AdSense for advertising; these may set their own cookies and process data under their own policies. Email and SMS delivery providers process your address or number only to deliver messages from us. We do not sell personal data.

Your rights under the DPDP Act

• Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct or update inaccurate data.
• Erase your data and delete your account.
• Withdraw consent at any time; the service may then not work fully.
• Nominate a person to exercise these rights on your behalf.
• Raise a grievance with us and, if unresolved, with the Data Protection Board of India.

To exercise any right, email contact@gk24.in with the subject line "Privacy". We respond within the time allowed by law and will verify that the request comes from the account holder.

Children

GK24 is intended for candidates preparing for competitive exams. Users under 18 should register only with the consent of a parent or guardian, and we do not knowingly track or profile children for advertising.

Retention and security

Account and activity data are kept while your account is active and deleted within 90 days of account deletion, except where the law requires longer. Usage analytics are kept in aggregated form. Data is stored on servers in India or with providers that offer equivalent protection, and access is limited to staff who need it.

Changes

We will post any change to this policy on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes will be announced on the site before they take effect.
