Why in News

On 4 November 2026 the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India launched the Network Anubhav Platform, a geospatial dashboard for network test data that also provides a Do Not Disturb web interface.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) launched the Network Anubhav Platform on 4 November 2026. It is a geospatial and analytical dashboard that puts together test results sent in by users and TRAI's own independent drive test data, and it also carries a web interface for Do Not Disturb services. The user test data comes from TRAI's MySpeed and MyCall apps.

What the maps show

The geospatial maps let a consumer see test results split into cellular and fixed broadband, and then further by service provider and by technology, on parameters such as download and upload speeds. A user can zoom and move across the map to see where the tests were taken, and can use filters, legends, supporting tables and downloadable reports to read the results.

The percentile measures

  • P50, the median speed: half the tests in an area recorded a speed at or above this value.
  • P80, used for mobile broadband: 80 per cent of tests recorded a speed at or above this value.
  • P90, used for fixed broadband: 90 per cent of tests recorded a speed at or above this value.

TRAI cautions that these user-generated values are not a full assessment of network quality by a standard methodology, but they tell a user what other users around a place are experiencing. The maps also give a geographic view of the independent drive tests.

For consumers, operators and the regulator

Consumers can report spam and test their internet speed, and can look up results of tests others have run nearby. Through a secure interface, telecom service providers can see consumer test data on call quality, coverage and internet performance with location, date, time and technical values, which helps them find spots that need work. TRAI itself can use the aggregated picture for evidence-based monitoring of consumer experience. The MySpeed SDK lets eligible third-party apps build in the same measurement ability, widening participation.

DND on the portal

The portal brings Do Not Disturb services to the web: a consumer can set preferences for commercial communication, lodge complaints about unsolicited commercial calls and messages, track a complaint and view consolidated and operator-wise complaint information. TRAI Chairman Anil Kumar Lahoti said the platform brings greater transparency to the network tests done by consumers and by TRAI.

Exam Point of View

Remember the platform's name and that TRAI launched it, that it is a geospatial and analytical dashboard, the apps feeding it (MySpeed and MyCall), the percentile measures P50, P80 and P90 and which one applies to mobile and to fixed broadband, the MySpeed SDK, the DND web interface and the TRAI Chairman, Anil Kumar Lahoti.

Practice Questions

Q1.Science & TechnologyEasy

Which body launched the Network Anubhav Platform?

  1. A.Department of Telecommunications
  2. B.Telecom Regulatory Authority of India
  3. C.Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited
  4. D.Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India

TRAI launched the Network Anubhav Platform as a geospatial and analytical dashboard that brings together test data sent in by users through its MySpeed and MyCall apps and the results of its own independent drive tests, and that also opens a web interface for Do Not Disturb services.

Q2.Science & TechnologyMedium

On the Network Anubhav Platform, what does the percentile value P50 indicate?

  1. A.The highest speed ever recorded in an area
  2. B.The median speed, with half the tests at or above that value
  3. C.The speed promised by the service provider in its tariff plan
  4. D.The average of the slowest fifty tests in an area
Show answer
Correct answer: B. The median speed, with half the tests at or above that value

The platform reports percentile values worked out from tests that users have carried out in a given area. P50 is the median: half the tests recorded a speed at or above it.

Q3.Science & TechnologyMedium

Which TRAI apps supply the user test data shown on the Network Anubhav Platform?

  1. A.MySpeed and MyCall
  2. B.BharatNet and UMANG
  3. C.DigiLocker and mParivahan
  4. D.Sanchar Saathi and eSamadhan
Show answer
Correct answer: A. MySpeed and MyCall

The user test data on the platform is made up of the results of tests run by consumers on these two TRAI apps, one measuring internet speed and the other call experience, and this is combined on the dashboard with TRAI's independent drive test data.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Network Anubhav Platform?

A geospatial and analytical dashboard launched by TRAI on 4 November 2026. It shows network test results from consumers through the MySpeed and MyCall apps along with TRAI's independent drive test data, and provides a Do Not Disturb web interface.

What do P50, P80 and P90 mean on the platform?

They are percentile speeds from user tests in an area. P50 is the median, where half the tests were at or above that speed. P80 is used for mobile broadband and P90 for fixed broadband.

Who is the Chairman of TRAI?

Anil Kumar Lahoti. He said the platform brings greater transparency to the network tests conducted by consumers and TRAI, helps operators find areas needing optimisation and strengthens TRAI's work on network improvement.
