Nasha Mukt Yuva Abhiyan Reaches 1.06 Lakh in First Month
MY Bharat and NSS closed the first month of Nasha Mukt Yuva Abhiyan with a nationwide Yuva Sanwad Mela that reached 1,06,855 participants on 9 October 2026.

Why in News
On 9 October 2026 MY Bharat and the NSS held a nationwide Yuva Sanwad Mela that completed the first month of the 100-Week Sankalp Abhiyan under Nasha Mukt Yuva Abhiyan, with a total outreach of 1,06,855 participants.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, working through MY Bharat and the National Service Scheme (NSS), held a countrywide Yuva Sanwad Mela on 9 October 2026. The event closed the first month of the 100-Week Sankalp Abhiyan, whose opening theme was ‘My Health, My Pride’, and it formed part of the ministry’s Nasha Mukt Yuva Abhiyan against substance abuse.
Reach of the campaign
The fair ran at 200 designated institutions and the villages they have adopted, and the consolidated outreach came to 1,06,855 participants. Work was carried out through 15 NSS Regional Directorates, and the Week 4 intervention recorded full execution against the target of 200 institutions. Of the total reach, 93,662 were youth participants and another 13,193 citizens were covered through activities in villages and slum settlements. The organisers moved away from pledge-taking alone and built the day around conversation, public awareness and cultural expression.
Three components
| Component | Activities | People reached |
| Youth Dialogue (Sanwad) | 509 seminars and open forums | 36,086 youth |
| Awareness stalls and kiosks | 396 stalls | 32,909 participants |
| Cultural performances | 587 street plays, skits and musical shows | 24,944 people |
The dialogue sessions took up the roots of substance abuse, the pull of peer pressure and prevention led by the community itself, with faculty members and local leaders joining in. The stalls carried material on the physical and mental damage addiction does and pointed visitors towards counselling services. The cultural slot used Nukkad Nataks, skits and music so that the message travelled in a local idiom rather than in official language.
Who took part
Participation was close to even across genders, and women were slightly ahead: 48,269 female and 45,618 male youth participants were recorded. Young ambassadors also put out 935 social media posts under the hashtag NashaMuktYuva, which widened the reach of local events beyond the places where they were held.
What comes next
With Month 1 over, the campaign turns to its second month, themed ‘Fit Youth, Addiction-Free Youth’, which will push physical fitness and sport and present regular activity as part of preventing substance abuse. The ministry intends to keep the drive anchored in MY Bharat, the NSS, educational institutions and local communities, so that awareness work is led by young people rather than delivered to them.

Exam Point of View
Note the ministry (Youth Affairs and Sports), the two implementing arms (MY Bharat and NSS), the event name (Yuva Sanwad Mela, 9 October 2026), the campaign (100-Week Sankalp Abhiyan under Nasha Mukt Yuva Abhiyan), the Month 1 theme ‘My Health, My Pride’ and the Month 2 theme ‘Fit Youth, Addiction-Free Youth’, and the headline reach of 1,06,855 participants across 200 institutions.
Practice Questions
What was the total outreach of the nationwide Yuva Sanwad Mela held on 9 October 2026?
- A.93,662 participants
- B.1,06,855 participants
- C.1,36,086 participants
- D.2,00,000 participants
Show answer
Explanation
The correct answer is 1,06,855 participants. This was the consolidated outreach of the Yuva Sanwad Mela, conducted across 200 designated institutions and the villages they have adopted. Option A, 93,662, is the number of youth participants alone; the remaining 13,193 were other citizens reached through activities in villages and slum communities, and adding the two gives the consolidated figure. That makes option A the most attractive wrong answer for anyone who remembers only the youth count. Option C mixes the digits of a different figure in the same account, the 36,086 youth engaged in dialogue sessions, and option D is simply a round number that matches nothing. Candidates should also note the split by gender within the youth count: 48,269 female participants and 45,618 male participants, which means young women outnumbered young men in this drive.
Which theme was followed in Month 1 of the 100-Week Sankalp Abhiyan?
- A.‘Fit Youth, Addiction-Free Youth’
- B.‘My Health, My Pride’
- C.‘Youth for Viksit Bharat’
- D.‘Swachh Yuva, Swasth Bharat’
Show answer
Explanation
The correct answer is ‘My Health, My Pride’. The first month of the 100-Week Sankalp Abhiyan ran under this theme and concluded with the nationwide Yuva Sanwad Mela on 9 October 2026, organised by MY Bharat and the National Service Scheme under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Option A is the theme of Month 2, which will focus on physical fitness and sports and encourage young people to treat regular activity as part of preventing substance abuse; mixing up the two months is the commonest mistake in questions of this kind, so the order matters. Options C and D are plausible-sounding slogans but neither has been used for these months of the campaign. The month’s work was built on three components: youth dialogue, awareness stalls and cultural performances such as street plays and musical presentations.
The Yuva Sanwad Mela was organised by MY Bharat and the National Service Scheme under which ministry?
- A.Ministry of Education
- B.Ministry of Health and Family Welfare
- C.Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports
- D.Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment
Show answer
Explanation
The correct answer is the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Both MY Bharat and the National Service Scheme function under this ministry, and the Yuva Sanwad Mela of 9 October 2026 was organised through them across 15 NSS Regional Directorates. Option A, the Ministry of Education, is a reasonable guess because the activities were held in educational institutions, but the NSS is administered by the youth affairs ministry. Option B is tempting because the theme of the month concerned health and the subject was substance abuse, yet the campaign is a youth-led awareness drive rather than a health department programme. Option D handles social welfare subjects including de-addiction work in other schemes, but not this campaign. Remember the chain for the exam: Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, then MY Bharat and NSS, then the Nasha Mukt Yuva Abhiyan and its 100-Week Sankalp Abhiyan.
