Commemorative Stamp Marks 75 Years of Dinamalar Newspaper

Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan released a commemorative postage stamp in Chennai on 5 September 2026. The stamp marks the 75th year of the Tamil newspaper Dinamalar. The function was held in Chennai to mark both the milestone and the release of the stamp.

The newspaper's story

Dinamalar was founded in 1951. Its founding resolve, the Vice President said, was to serve as a touchstone of truth. He recalled the contribution of the founder, T. V. Ramasubbaiyer. An idea that began in one person's mind, he noted, has grown into a large organisation, and that growth reflects the dedication and collective effort of successive generations.

The Vice President said Dinamalar has earned the trust of readers over the past 75 years by holding to truth, patriotism and public service. A newspaper, he said, earns and keeps that trust only when it stands firm against pressure and upholds higher values without fear. He said the paper's work over these years has built exactly such a bond with its readers. He praised its 7-decade-long journey and urged it to serve the nation for many more years.

The Vice President also spoke about the next generation. He appreciated Dinamalar's Pattam publication. Pattam takes knowledge on general awareness, language skills and scientific innovations to school students.
