AIIA Report: 37.74 Lakh Patients Treated in a Decade
The All India Institute of Ayurveda said 37,74,524 patients were treated across its campuses between October 2016 and September 2026, with footfall up fourfold.

Why in News
On 16 October 2026 the All India Institute of Ayurveda released a decade report on its Foundation Day, recording 37,74,524 patients treated across its network between October 2016 and September 2026.
The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi, brought out a report on its Foundation Day setting down what the institute has achieved in ten years of work. The document records that 37,74,524 patients were given healthcare services at its main campus and at its affiliated and outreach centres between October 2016 and September 2026. AIIA is an autonomous institution working under the Ministry of Ayush.
Where the patients were seen
Of that total, about 30,37,077 patients were attended to at the institute main campus at Sarita Vihar in New Delhi. The clinical set-up there can handle roughly 3,000 patients a day in its outpatient department, and an inpatient wing of 200 beds takes care of those who need admission. The remaining load, close to 7.37 lakh patients, was handled by centres outside the main campus.
The outreach network
- A satellite centre in Goa
- Affiliated facilities at Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi
- A centre at the UPSC Building
- The National Cancer Institute at Jhajjar
- The IAS Training Centre at Mussoorie
- A centre at Kevadia, Ekta Nagar
A fourfold rise in footfall
AIIA Director Prof. (Vaidya) P. K. Prajapati said public interest in Ayurveda grew sharply during the pandemic years and kept growing afterwards. Patient numbers at the institute rose more than fourfold over that stretch. In 2020 the institute attended to about 1.23 lakh patients; by September 2026 the yearly figure had crossed 5.40 lakh. The jump is read as a sign of wider demand for consultation and treatment based on Ayurveda.
What the institute does
The report was released alongside KAUMARACON-2026, a conference held on the same occasion. Together the two events point to the twin priorities the institute has set itself: carrying clinical services to a larger number of people, and strengthening the standing of Ayurveda through scientific research, sound teaching and tie-ups with other institutions. AIIA describes its aim as joining traditional medical knowledge with present-day healthcare practice, so that treatment rests on evidence, and as building recognition for India systems of traditional medicine both at home and abroad.
