RRB Group D GK Questions 2026

Static GK is not a separate section in RRB Group D, but it decides most of the paper's recall marks. General Science is 25 questions of Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences at 10th standard (CBSE) level as per CEN 09/2025, and the 20 General Awareness questions lean on the standing facts behind the news: the sport, the award, the institution, the state, the river or the scientist an event touches. This page holds GK24's topic-wise GK notes for RRB Group D. The General Science notes go topic by topic through motion and force, work, energy and power, gravitation, heat, light, sound, electricity and magnetism, atomic structure and the periodic table, chemical reactions, acids, bases and salts, metals and non-metals, and carbon compounds, and the Life Sciences notes cover cells, the human body, nutrition, diseases, plants and genetics. The static GK notes cover Indian Railways zones and facts, national symbols, first and largest in India and the world, awards and honours, important days, books and authors, sports GK, art and culture, and the basics of Indian Polity, Geography, History and the Economy. Each note is short facts and tables that can be revised in one sitting. Read a note, then solve its quiz and the previous-year questions on this site to check what stayed.

Which one of the following is a chemical change?

  1. A.Cutting of hair
  2. B.Graying of hair naturally
  3. C.Swelling of resin in water
  4. D.Cutting of fruit
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Graying of hair naturally

Hair turns grey because the chemical make-up of the hair changes as the body stops producing the pigment melanin, so new substances form and the change cannot be reversed.

Q50.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2017, GATMedium

Which one of the following physical quantities does NOT affect the resistance of a cylindrical resistor ?

  1. A.The current through it
  2. B.Its length
  3. C.The resistivity of the material used in the resistor
  4. D.The area of cross-section of the cylinder
Show answer
Correct answer: A. The current through it

The resistance of a conductor depends on its material and shape, not on how much current flows through it. For a cylindrical conductor, R = ρL/A, where ρ is the resistivity of the material, L the length and A the area of cross-section.

Which one of the following statements regarding Penicillin is correct ?

  1. A.Penicillin resistant bacteria can store this antibiotic in vacuole
  2. B.Penicillin resistant bacteria can degrade this antibiotic by an enzyme called β-lactamase
  3. C.Penicillin resistant bacteria can degrade this antibiotic by an enzyme called lactic acid dehydrogenase
  4. D.Penicillin is not absorbed by bacteria; so most bacteria are resistant
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Penicillin resistant bacteria can degrade this antibiotic by an enzyme called β-lactamase

The enzyme breaks the β-lactam ring that gives penicillin its power. Penicillin was discovered by Alexander Fleming in 1928 from the mould Penicillium notatum.

Which one of the following statements is correct with regard to the material of electrical insulators ?

  1. A.They contain no electrons
  2. B.Electrons do not flow easily through them
  3. C.They are crystals
  4. D.They have more number of electrons than the protons on their surface
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Electrons do not flow easily through them

In an insulator the electrons are tightly bound to their atoms, so there are almost no free electrons to carry a current.

Zinc is used to protect iron from corrosion because zinc is

  1. A.more electropositive than iron
  2. B.cheaper than iron
  3. C.a bluish white metal
  4. D.a good conductor of heat and electricity
Show answer
Correct answer: A. more electropositive than iron

Zinc gives up electrons more readily than iron, so it corrodes first and keeps the iron safe. Coating iron or steel with a thin layer of zinc is called galvanisation.
