1 topics13 MCQs1 previous-year questions1 quizzesUpdated

Uttar Pradesh GK is the state section of UPPSC and UPSSSC papers. The course starts with geography: the location and physical divisions of the state, its rivers, lakes and the Ganga-Yamuna Doab, climate, soils and forests, national parks and wetlands, then agriculture, canals and energy, minerals and industries with One District One Product, and the expressways, railways and airports.

History follows the Mahajanapadas, Buddhism and Jainism in UP, the Sultanate, the Mughals and Awadh, the Revolt of 1857, the freedom struggle and its leaders, and the formation of the state with the separation of Uttarakhand. Culture covers monuments, Kashi, Ayodhya, Prayagraj and Mathura, the Kumbh, Kathak, Nautanki and Raslila, handicrafts with GI tags, and writers. The last topics cover the Governor, both houses of the legislature, the Allahabad High Court, Panchayati Raj, the budget and the state's schemes.

Every topic is a short note in English and Hindi with practice questions. Read the topics in order, one a day, take each quiz and revise the ones you get wrong.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which exams ask Uttar Pradesh GK?

UPPSC exams such as PCS, RO/ARO and the lecturer exams, UPSSSC exams after the PET, such as VDO, Lekhpal and Junior Assistant, and UP Police Constable and Sub-Inspector papers all carry questions on Uttar Pradesh. The share is highest in UPSSSC and police papers.

What should I study first in UP GK?

Begin with geography and the economy: the physical divisions, rivers, crops, industries and One District One Product. Then read history from the Mahajanapadas to 1857 and the freedom struggle, and keep culture, fairs and handicrafts for daily revision.

Is UP GK available in Hindi?

Yes. Every Uttar Pradesh GK note and quiz is written in Hindi as well as English, with the same questions and explanations in both languages. The language switch at the top of every page moves between the two.

How should I revise schemes and administration?

Keep a one-page list of the state's major schemes with their aim and beneficiaries, and another of the Governor, legislature, High Court and commissions. Revise both every week, and check the latest figures in current affairs before the exam, because schemes and office-holders change.
