Defence GK Questions 2026

Static GK carries most of the General Knowledge marks in the defence exams, and science carries the largest share of it. In NDA & NA, Physics, Chemistry and General Science are about half of the 400 marks of Part B, and History, the freedom movement and Geography are about 20% each, as per the notice. In the CDS (II) 2026 General Knowledge paper, GK24 counted about 37 science questions, about 20 each on Polity and History, about 15 on Geography and environment and about 10 on the Economy; this count is guidance, not an official break-up. The Army's Agniveer CEE gives 15 of its 50 General Duty questions to General Knowledge and 15 to General Science, which covers cells, the human body, plants and animals and common epidemics. Its GK list names history, culture and geography of India and its neighbours, the Constitution, inventions and discoveries, books and authors, and the Indian Armed Forces. This page holds GK24's topic-wise GK notes and GK questions tagged for NDA, CDS and Agniveer, in English and Hindi: General Science, Indian History, Art and Culture, Indian Polity, Geography, Indian Economy and Static GK. Read one topic at a sitting, then solve its questions and the previous-year questions of your exam to see what stayed with you.

Which one of the following is NOT present in cement?

  1. A.2CaO·SiO₂
  2. B.3CaO·SiO₂
  3. C.4CaO·SiO₂
  4. D.3CaO·Al₂O₃
Show answer
Correct answer: C. 4CaO·SiO₂

There is no compound with the formula 4CaO·SiO₂ in Portland cement; the four main compounds of cement clinker are dicalcium silicate, tricalcium silicate, tricalcium aluminate and tetracalcium aluminoferrite.

A flower typically is composed of:

  1. A.Stomata, Cotyledon, Petals, Sepals
  2. B.Carpels, Sepals, Petals, Cambium
  3. C.Carpels, Stamens, Petals, Sepals
  4. D.Petals, Sepals, Perianth, Root cap
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Carpels, Stamens, Petals, Sepals

A typical flower has four whorls arranged on the thalamus: sepals on the outside, then petals, then stamens, and carpels at the centre.

Q2106.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-II 2017, GATEasy

The mirrors used as rear-view mirrors in vehicles are

  1. A.concave
  2. B.convex
  3. C.cylindrical
  4. D.plane

Q2109.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2019, GATHard

Two metallic wires A and B are made using copper. The radius of wire A is r while its length is l. A dc voltage V is applied across the wire A, causing power dissipation, P. The radius of wire B is 2r and its length is 2l and the same dc voltage V is applied across it causing power dissipation P₁. Which one of the following is the correct relationship between P and P₁?

  1. A.P = 2P₁
  2. B.P = P₁/2
  3. C.P = 4P₁
  4. D.P = P₁
Show answer
Correct answer: B. P = P₁/2

Wire B has half the resistance of wire A, and at the same voltage power is V²/R, so B dissipates twice the power: P₁ = 2P, which means P = P₁/2.

Q2110.GeographyAsked in: NDA · NDA-II 2019, GATHard

Radiations coming from the Sun are mostly in the form of

  1. A.light only.
  2. B.light and long wavelength infrared.
  3. C.light and short wavelength infrared.
  4. D.both short and long wavelength infrared.
Show answer
Correct answer: C. light and short wavelength infrared.

The Sun's surface is about 6,000 °C, so most of its energy reaches the Earth as short-wave radiation: visible light and near (short wavelength) infrared, with a small share of ultraviolet.

Q2112.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2022, GATMedium

A wooden box of mass 2 kg and dimensions (30 cm x 15 cm x 10 cm) is placed on a table with sides 30 cm and 10 cm touching the tabletop. Which one of the following is the approximate pressure exerted on the table?

  1. A.111.1 N/m²
  2. B.222.2 N/m²
  3. C.333.3 N/m²
  4. D.666.6 N/m²
Show answer
Correct answer: D. 666.6 N/m²

Pressure is force divided by the area in contact: the weight is 2 kg × 10 m/s² = 20 N and the face touching the table is 0.30 m × 0.10 m = 0.03 m², so the pressure is 20 ÷ 0.03 ≈ 666.6 N/m².
