What the Union Minister said
The Minister said the metro gives citizens a faster, safer, more comfortable and more reliable way to travel. He said it will tie residential areas, commercial areas and places of work more closely together. He described metro rail as more than a transport project. In his words it is an instrument of economic growth, of urban change and of social inclusion. Greater use of public transport, he added, will cut traffic jams, fuel use and emissions.
Who built it
The Minister congratulated the Government of Madhya Pradesh and the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited. He also thanked the officials, engineers, workers and other stakeholders attached to the project.
Points a paper setter looks at
Three items stand out here for the examination hall. The first is the pairing of the corridor with its city and State. The second is the set of figures for stations, length and cost. The third is the name of the executing agency, which is the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited.

Practice Questions
The Indore Metro Priority Corridor-2 inaugurated on 5 September 2026 runs between which two points?
- A.Super Corridor-3 and Malviya Nagar Chauraha
- B.Rajwada and Vijay Nagar
- C.Super Corridor-3 and Rajwada
- D.Gandhi Nagar and Bhawarkuan
Show answer
Correct answer: A. Super Corridor-3 and Malviya Nagar Chauraha
Explanation
The correct answer is Super Corridor-3 and Malviya Nagar Chauraha. The release describes the newly inaugurated Phase-I (Reach-II) as a stretch of about 11 km with 11 stations running from Super Corridor-3 to Malviya Nagar Chauraha, developed at an estimated cost of ₹2,850 crore. Options B, C and D each name well-known locations in Indore, and a candidate who has read the news quickly may recognise one of the names and pick it in a hurry; that is exactly how such distractors are built. Only option A carries both ends of the line as the release states them. The safest way to store an item like this is to learn the corridor as a set: the city is Indore, the corridor is Priority Corridor-2, the phase is Phase-I (Reach-II), the two ends are Super Corridor-3 and Malviya Nagar Chauraha, and the cost is ₹2,850 crore. The inauguration was done by Union Minister Manohar Lal with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav present.
After the inauguration of Priority Corridor-2, how many stations of the Indore Metro are operational?
- A.11
- B.14
- C.16
- D.21
Show answer
Correct answer: C. 16
Explanation
The correct answer is 16. The release states that with this expansion the Indore Metro network now comprises 16 operational stations covering approximately 17 km, at a cumulative project cost of about ₹4,370 crore. Option A is the trap in this question: 11 is the number of stations on the newly opened stretch alone, not the network total, and candidates who read carelessly stop at that figure. Options B and D are not supported by the release. Keep the two sets of numbers apart in your notes. For the new stretch the figures are about 11 km, 11 stations and ₹2,850 crore. For the whole network the figures are 16 stations, about 17 km and about ₹4,370 crore. A question can be set on either set, and sometimes on the difference between them, so writing them one below the other while revising is the safer habit. The project is executed by the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited.
Who inaugurated the Indore Metro Priority Corridor-2?
- A.The Union Minister of Railways
- B.The Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs
- C.The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh
- D.The Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways
Show answer
Correct answer: B. The Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs
Explanation
The correct answer is the Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal. Metro rail in India falls under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, and the release records that the Minister inaugurated the corridor in the presence of the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. Option C is the most attractive wrong answer because Chief Minister Mohan Yadav was present on the stage, but being present is not the same as performing the inauguration; a paper setter uses exactly this difference. Option A is wrong because metro projects are not handled by the Ministry of Railways, even though the word rail appears in the name of the executing company. Option D is wrong because roads and highways are a different portfolio altogether. Also remember that Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu attended the function, and that the Minister congratulated the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited for the work.
