Indore Metro Priority Corridor-2 Opens with 11 Stations

Indore gained a second metro stretch on 5 September 2026. Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal inaugurated the Indore Metro Priority Corridor-2. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav was present at the ceremony. Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu also attended.

What exactly opened

The stretch thrown open is Phase-I (Reach-II) of the project. It runs about 11 km and carries 11 stations. The line begins at Super Corridor-3 and ends at Malviya Nagar Chauraha. Its estimated cost is ₹2,850 crore.

The network after this addition

The Indore Metro is now bigger on both counts. It has 16 stations in operation. These cover roughly 17 km of route. The cumulative cost of the project so far is about ₹4,370 crore.

What the Union Minister said

The Minister said the metro gives citizens a faster, safer, more comfortable and more reliable way to travel. He said it will tie residential areas, commercial areas and places of work more closely together. He described metro rail as more than a transport project. In his words it is an instrument of economic growth, of urban change and of social inclusion. Greater use of public transport, he added, will cut traffic jams, fuel use and emissions.

Who built it

The Minister congratulated the Government of Madhya Pradesh and the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited. He also thanked the officials, engineers, workers and other stakeholders attached to the project.

Points a paper setter looks at

Three items stand out here for the examination hall. The first is the pairing of the corridor with its city and State. The second is the set of figures for stations, length and cost. The third is the name of the executing agency, which is the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited.
