Why in News

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology described its pavilion at the 10th India Mobile Congress 2026 at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, on 9 October 2026, covering digital public infrastructure, artificial intelligence, semiconductors and startups.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has put up a dedicated pavilion at the 10th India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026, which opened at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi on 7 October 2026 and runs to 10 October. Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally inaugurated the edition on 8 October 2026. The theme this year is 'Scale Without Boundaries', and the gathering brings together technology companies, startups, policymakers and researchers from India and abroad.

Digital public infrastructure on display

The pavilion puts the platforms that carry everyday citizen services on show: Aadhaar for identity, DigiLocker for documents, UMANG for government services on the phone and Entity Locker for organisations. An API Setu booth explains how departments exchange information through application programming interfaces, while the UX4G team helps visitors improve the design of their own digital services. A separate booth on the Digital Personal Data Protection framework explains the duties that come with handling personal data.

Language, AI and semiconductors

Digital India BHASHINI is demonstrating how artificial intelligence and language technology open digital content and services in Indian languages. MyGov India has brought a collection of Mann Ki Baat videos from across the country. The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) is showing DARPAN S3, and it is joined by NIXI, SAMEER and the India Semiconductor Mission, covering internet infrastructure, applied research and advanced technology.

Startups and the Experience Zone

The Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) has brought 14 STPI-incubated startups whose founders can present their products to visitors, investors and industry representatives. An interactive Experience Zone lets visitors build an AI avatar of themselves at one booth and play a virtual-reality cricket game at another, showing how artificial intelligence and immersive technology feel in practice. Taken together, the pavilion covers citizen services, artificial intelligence, startups, semiconductors, internet infrastructure and research in one place, and students, entrepreneurs, officials and researchers can walk through it during the congress.

Practice Questions

Q1.Science & TechnologyEasy

What is the theme of the 10th India Mobile Congress 2026?

  1. A.'Scale Without Boundaries'
  2. B.'Digital India for All'
  3. C.'Connecting the Unconnected'
  4. D.'Innovation to Scale'
Show answer
Correct answer: A. 'Scale Without Boundaries'

Explanation

The correct answer is Scale Without Boundaries. The 10th edition of the India Mobile Congress is being held under this theme from 7 to 10 October 2026 at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi, and it was formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 8 October 2026. The congress brings together technology companies, startups, innovators, policymakers, researchers and industry leaders from India and other countries for discussion on next-generation connectivity and emerging technology. Options B, C and D are slogans of the kind used in digital and telecom campaigns, which makes them plausible distractors, but none of them is the theme of this edition. In the examination, link three things together: the tenth edition, the venue Yashobhoomi, and the theme Scale Without Boundaries, because questions on a conference almost always ask for the theme or the venue.

Q2.Science & TechnologyMedium

Which platform at the MeitY pavilion in IMC 2026 demonstrates artificial intelligence for Indian languages?

  1. A.Entity Locker
  2. B.API Setu
  3. C.BHASHINI
  4. D.DigiLocker
Show answer
Correct answer: C. BHASHINI

Explanation

The correct answer is BHASHINI. Digital India BHASHINI is demonstrating at the pavilion how artificial intelligence and language technology can carry digital content and government services into Indian languages. Option A, Entity Locker, is a platform for organisations to hold and share their documents, and it is shown alongside Aadhaar, DigiLocker and UMANG as part of digital public infrastructure. Option B, API Setu, is the booth that explains how departments integrate and exchange information through application programming interfaces, which supports interoperability between digital systems. Option D, DigiLocker, is the citizen platform for storing and fetching documents, not a language tool. All four names appear in the pavilion, so the question tests whether a candidate knows what each one actually does rather than whether the name sounds familiar.

Q3.Science & TechnologyMedium

How many STPI-incubated startups is the Software Technology Parks of India presenting at IMC 2026?

  1. A.10
  2. B.12
  3. C.14
  4. D.20
Show answer
Correct answer: C. 14

Explanation

The correct answer is 14. The Software Technology Parks of India is taking part in the congress with 14 startups incubated by it, so that their founders can place their products and solutions before visitors, investors and other industry participants. The remaining options are near figures that do not match the number on record. Two other details of the same pavilion are worth remembering with this one, since a paper setter can mix them into the same question: the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing is showcasing DARPAN S3, with NIXI, SAMEER and the India Semiconductor Mission also present, and an interactive Experience Zone has one booth where a visitor can create an AI avatar and another offering a virtual-reality cricket experience.
