UPSC CAPF GK Questions 2026

Static general knowledge fills most of Paper-I in UPSC CAPF. Of the six areas the CAPF (ACs) 2026 notice lists for General Ability and Intelligence, four are static: General Science; Indian Polity and Economy; History of India; and Indian and World Geography. The notice's wording shows the depth expected. Polity covers the political system and the Constitution of India, social systems, public administration, security issues and human rights with their indicators. Economy covers economic development in India. History covers social, economic and political aspects, including the growth of nationalism and the freedom movement. Geography covers physical, social and economic aspects of India and the world. General Science asks about everyday scientific phenomena and new areas such as Information Technology, Biotechnology and Environmental Science. This page holds GK24's topic-wise GK notes for UPSC CAPF, in English and Hindi, written as short facts and tables so that a topic can be revised in one sitting: Indian Polity, Indian History, Geography, Indian Economy, General Science, Environment and Ecology, Computer, and Art and Culture. The same notes serve Paper-II, whose essay part suggests modern Indian history, the freedom struggle, geography, polity and economy as topics. Read one topic at a time, then solve its quiz and the CAPF previous-year questions on this site to check what you have retained. General Mental Ability, the sixth area, is reasoning and arithmetic, and needs separate practice.

Which one of the following statements about proteins in mammalian cells is correct?

  1. A.Proteins in mammalian cells are synthesized in cell membrane.
  2. B.Proteins in mammalian cells are not synthesized in cell membrane but directly absorbed from food.
  3. C.Proteins in mammalian cells are synthesized in rough endoplasmic reticulum.
  4. D.Proteins in mammalian cells are synthesized in Golgi apparatus.
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Proteins in mammalian cells are synthesized in rough endoplasmic reticulum.

The RER is studded with ribosomes, the actual sites where amino acids are joined into proteins. Ribosomes read the message carried by mRNA and link amino acids in the right order.

Q2702.General ScienceAsked in: UPSC CAPF · CAPF 2019, Paper IEasy

Which one of the following will happen if the medium surrounding the cell has a higher concentration than the cell ?

  1. A.The cell will gain water
  2. B.The cell will die
  3. C.There will be no change
  4. D.The cell will lose water
Show answer
Correct answer: D. The cell will lose water

A medium more concentrated than the cell is hypertonic, so water leaves the cell by osmosis. In osmosis water moves across a selectively permeable membrane from the side with fewer dissolved particles to the side with more.

Which one of the following plant tissues has large air spaces?

  1. A.Sclerenchyma
  2. B.Meristem
  3. C.Collenchyma
  4. D.Aerenchyma
Show answer
Correct answer: D. Aerenchyma

Pure, demineralized water, free from all soluble mineral salts is obtained by which of the following method?

  1. A.Passing water through microfiltration membrane
  2. B.Calgon's method
  3. C.Passing water through a cation exchange and an anion exchange resin bed
  4. D.By boiling
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Passing water through a cation exchange and an anion exchange resin bed

Together the two resins take out every dissolved ion, which leaves demineralised water. In the cation exchange resin (written RH), metal ions such as Ca2+, Mg2+ and Na+ are swapped for H+ ions.

  1. A.Any energy transfer that does not involve temperature difference in some way is not heat
  2. B.Any energy transfer always requires a temperature difference
  3. C.On heating the length and volume of the object remain exactly the same
  4. D.Whenever there is a temperature difference, heat is the only way of energy transfer
Show answer
Correct answer: A. Any energy transfer that does not involve temperature difference in some way is not heat
