UPSC CAPF GK Questions 2026

Static general knowledge fills most of Paper-I in UPSC CAPF. Of the six areas the CAPF (ACs) 2026 notice lists for General Ability and Intelligence, four are static: General Science; Indian Polity and Economy; History of India; and Indian and World Geography. The notice's wording shows the depth expected. Polity covers the political system and the Constitution of India, social systems, public administration, security issues and human rights with their indicators. Economy covers economic development in India. History covers social, economic and political aspects, including the growth of nationalism and the freedom movement. Geography covers physical, social and economic aspects of India and the world. General Science asks about everyday scientific phenomena and new areas such as Information Technology, Biotechnology and Environmental Science. This page holds GK24's topic-wise GK notes for UPSC CAPF, in English and Hindi, written as short facts and tables so that a topic can be revised in one sitting: Indian Polity, Indian History, Geography, Indian Economy, General Science, Environment and Ecology, Computer, and Art and Culture. The same notes serve Paper-II, whose essay part suggests modern Indian history, the freedom struggle, geography, polity and economy as topics. Read one topic at a time, then solve its quiz and the CAPF previous-year questions on this site to check what you have retained. General Mental Ability, the sixth area, is reasoning and arithmetic, and needs separate practice.

Consider the following statements :

Statement I : Circular economy reduces the emissions of greenhouse gases.

Statement II : Circular economy reduces the use of raw materials as inputs.

Statement III : Circular economy reduces wastage in the production process.

Which one of the following is correct in respect of the above statements?

  1. A.Both Statement II and Statement III are correct and both of them explain Statement I
  2. B.Both Statement II and Statement III are correct but only one of them explains Statement I

Which one among the following statements about matter is NOT correct ?

  1. A.On increasing the temperature of solids, the kinetic energy of particles increases
  2. B.The maximum temperature at which a solid melts to become a liquid at atmospheric pressure is called its melting point
  3. C.Particles of steam have more energy than water at 100°C
  4. D.Direct change of gas to solid is called deposition
Show answer
Correct answer: B. The maximum temperature at which a solid melts to become a liquid at atmospheric pressure is called its melting point

The melting point is the minimum temperature at which a solid melts to become a liquid at atmospheric pressure, not the maximum.

Q2689.General ScienceAsked in: UPSC CAPF · CAPF 2018, Paper IMedium

If the amplitude of oscillation of a simple pendulum is very small, then its time period of oscillation 1. depends on the length of the pendulum, L 2. depends on the acceleration due to gravity, g 3. depends upon the mass of the bob of the pendulum, m 4. does not depend upon the amplitude of the pendulum, A Select the correct answer using the code given below.

  1. A.1, 2 and 3
  2. B.1, 2 and 4
  3. C.2, 3 and 4
  4. D.1 and 4 only
Show answer
Correct answer: B. 1, 2 and 4

For small swings the time period is T = 2π√(L/g), which contains the length and gravity but neither the mass nor the amplitude.

Q2690.General ScienceAsked in: UPSC CAPF · CAPF 2019, Paper IEasy

The increase in length of stems and roots in plants is due to

  1. A.lateral meristem
  2. B.intercalary meristem
  3. C.apical meristem
  4. D.secondary growth
Show answer
Correct answer: C. apical meristem

Apical meristem sits at the growing tips of stems and roots, and its dividing cells make them longer. Meristems are groups of cells that keep dividing throughout a plant's life.

Q2691.Environment & EcologyAsked in: UPSC CAPF · CAPF 2020, Paper IMedium

Which one of the following is NOT a component of photochemical smog ?

  1. A.Ozone
  2. B.Peroxyacetyl nitrate
  3. C.Polyaromatic hydrocarbons
  4. D.Nitric oxide
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Polyaromatic hydrocarbons

Polyaromatic hydrocarbons are soot-related pollutants from incomplete burning; they are not among the gases that make up photochemical smog. Photochemical smog forms on warm, sunny days in cities with heavy traffic.

Which one of the following statements about transport mechanism in plants is correct?

  1. A.Diffusion of ions and small molecules across cell membrane requires energy.
  2. B.Active transport of ions and small molecules across cell membrane against concentration gradient requires energy.
  3. C.Cells conserve energy and no energy is required for transport of ions and small molecules against concentration gradient.
  4. D.Cells do not transport ions across their membrane as these are charged molecules.
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Active transport of ions and small molecules across cell membrane against concentration gradient requires energy.

Moving a substance from low to high concentration is uphill work, and the cell pays for it with ATP.
