RRB JE Previous Year GK Questions

Previous-year questions show what the RRBs actually ask in the General Awareness and General Science sections of the Junior Engineer exam, which the CEN describes only as a list of subject areas. Reading them shows the depth the RRBs expect: school-level science with everyday applications, polity questions on articles and constitutional bodies, history questions on the freedom struggle, geography questions on rivers, national parks and resources, and current affairs framed as a single fact. They also show that the same themes return across shifts and cycles with new options. This page gathers RRB JE previous-year questions from CBT-1 and CBT-2 as GK24 adds them, in English and Hindi, each with the correct answer, a short explanation and the topic it belongs to, so a question leads straight to the GK note that covers it. Use them in three passes: first untimed to learn the pattern, then timed to build speed, and a week later to revisit your mistakes. In the previous cycle the RRBs let candidates view the questions, responses and answer keys of both CBTs and raise objections, which is how recent papers become available. Combine the previous-year questions with the daily current affairs, GK notes and quizzes on this site, and the General Awareness sections stop being guesswork.

  1. A.Tomato
  2. B.Orange
  3. C.Tamarind
  4. D.Sour milk

Q46.Environment & EcologyAsked in: RRB JE · 29 Aug 2019Medium

Which of the following statements about ozone is true?

  1. A.All of the options
  2. B.Ozone is highly reactive
  3. C.Ozone protects us from the harmful UV radiation of the sun
  4. D.Ozone is the major constituent of photochemical smog
Show answer
Correct answer: A. All of the options

Each of the other three statements is correct on its own, which is exactly why the combined option is the answer.

  2. B.International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry
  3. C.International Science Council
  4. D.International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics
Show answer
Correct answer: B. International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry

It is the world authority on chemical nomenclature, so it approves the names and symbols of newly discovered elements, standardises the naming of compounds and maintains the recommended values of atomic weights.

Q48.Science & TechnologyAsked in: RRB JE · 26 May 2019, Shift 1Easy

What is the expansion of NASA?

  1. A.National Agency of Space Administration
  2. B.Navigational Aeronautics and Space Administration
  3. C.National Aeronautics and Space Administration
  4. D.National Aeronautics and Space Agency
Show answer
Correct answer: C. National Aeronautics and Space Administration

NASA is the civilian space agency of the United States, established in 1958 after the launch of Sputnik, with its headquarters at Washington DC.

Q49.Science & TechnologyAsked in: RRB JE · 23 May 2019, Shift 3Medium

The first pico satellite of India is:

  1. A.INSAT
  2. B.STUDSAT
  3. C.GSAT-4
  4. D.ANUSAT
Show answer
Correct answer: B. STUDSAT

STUDSAT, short for Student Satellite, was the first pico satellite built in India. A pico satellite is one that weighs under about one kilogram, and STUDSAT weighed less than that.

Q52.General ScienceAsked in: RRB JE · 23 May 2019, Shift 1Medium

Which of the following elements has the highest electronegativity?

  1. A.Fluorine
  2. B.Bromine
  3. C.Iodine
  4. D.Chlorine
Show answer
Correct answer: A. Fluorine

Electronegativity is the tendency of an atom to attract a shared pair of electrons towards itself. It increases from left to right across a period, as nuclear charge grows, and decreases down a group, as each new shell puts the outer electrons further from the nucleus.

Q53.General ScienceAsked in: RRB JE · 01 Sep 2019, Shift 2Easy

What is the work done to move a unit charge from one point to another in an electric circuit carrying some current, between those two points?

  1. A.Pressure distance
  2. B.Potential difference
  3. C.Potential distance
  4. D.Pressure difference
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Potential difference

The potential difference between two points in a circuit is defined as the work done in moving a unit positive charge from one point to the other.

Q54.General ScienceAsked in: RRB JE · 27 May 2019, Shift 1Easy

If the potential difference across the ends of a conductor is halved, what happens to the current flowing through it?

  1. A.It gets increased
  2. B.It gets doubled
  3. C.It gets decreased
  4. D.It gets halved
Show answer
Correct answer: D. It gets halved

By Ohm's law, at a constant temperature the current through a conductor is directly proportional to the potential difference across its ends, since the current equals the potential difference divided by the resistance.
