RRB JE GK Questions 2026

Static GK makes up most of the General Awareness syllabus of RRB JE, and General Science adds a larger block of its own. CEN 04/2026 lists Indian geography, the culture and history of India including the freedom struggle, Indian Polity and Constitution, the Indian Economy and environmental issues concerning India and the world. In CBT-1 these share 15 questions with current affairs, while General Science, which the CEN defines as Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences up to the 10th Standard CBSE syllabus, has 30 questions of its own. CBT-2 repeats the General Awareness syllabus in 15 questions and adds 15 on Physics and Chemistry, 10 on Basics of Computers and Applications and 10 on Basics of Environment and Pollution Control. This page holds GK24's topic-wise GK notes for RRB JE: Polity, History, Geography, the Economy, Art and Culture, Environment and Ecology, General Science and Computer basics. Each note is a set of short facts and tables in English and Hindi that can be revised in one sitting. Read one topic, solve its quiz and previous-year questions, and return to it a week later. With 15 General Awareness questions spread over eight areas, breadth matters more than depth, while General Science rewards thorough revision of Class 10 concepts.

RRB JE GK Questions with Answers

Q221.General ScienceHard

Which statement about a semiconductor that has been doped is correct?

  1. A.It acquires a net negative charge if doped n-type
  2. B.It acquires a net positive charge if doped p-type
  3. C.It remains electrically neutral in both cases
  4. D.Its conductivity falls below that of the pure crystal
Show answer
Correct answer: C. It remains electrically neutral in both cases

Doping replaces a few host atoms with impurity atoms, and each impurity atom brings its own nucleus along with its electrons, so the total positive and negative charge in the crystal stays balanced.

Q222.General ScienceMedium

The transistor was invented in 1947 at Bell Laboratories by:

  1. A.Jack Kilby and Robert Noyce
  2. B.J. J. Thomson and Ernest Rutherford
  3. C.Bardeen, Brattain and Shockley
  4. D.Michael Faraday and James Clerk Maxwell
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Bardeen, Brattain and Shockley

John Bardeen, Walter Brattain and William Shockley built the first working transistor at Bell Laboratories in 1947 and shared the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1956 for the discovery of the transistor effect.

Q226.General ScienceMedium

Which diode is operated in the reverse breakdown region and is used as a voltage regulator?

  1. A.Light emitting diode
  2. B.Photodiode
  3. C.Zener diode
  4. D.Solar cell
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Zener diode

A Zener diode is heavily doped so that breakdown occurs at a low and sharply defined reverse voltage. Beyond that point the voltage across it stays almost constant even when the current through it changes a great deal, which is precisely the property a voltage regulator needs.

Q232.Government SchemesEasy

Which Union Minister addressed the PMGSY Chintan Shivir and asked for greater use of GPS-based monitoring and artificial intelligence?

  1. A.Nitin Gadkari
  2. B.Shivraj Singh Chouhan
  3. C.Kamlesh Paswan
  4. D.Rohit Kansal
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Shivraj Singh Chouhan

He addressed the Chintan Shivir and pressed for wider use of digital technologies, GPS-based monitoring and artificial intelligence in field verification, monitoring and timely decision-making, while also seeking faster preparation of Detailed Project Reports, better construction quality and stronger accountability.

Q234.Government SchemesMedium

What is the outlay announced for PMGSY-IV?

  1. A.Rs 62,500 crore
  2. B.Rs 70,125 crore
  3. C.Rs 25,000 crore
  4. D.Rs 80,000 crore
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Rs 70,125 crore

Under PMGSY-IV, with this outlay, about 62,500 km of all-weather roads are targeted so that 25,000 eligible unconnected habitations receive connectivity.

Q235.Science & TechnologyHard

TTT-DHTD was developed by researchers from which set of institutions?

  1. A.IIT Madras, IISc Bengaluru and CSIR-NCL Pune
  2. B.S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Institute of Nano Science and Technology and SRM University, Amaravati
  3. C.TIFR Mumbai, IISER Pune and BARC
  4. D.IIT Kanpur, JNCASR and ARCI Hyderabad
Show answer
Correct answer: B. S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Institute of Nano Science and Technology and SRM University, Amaravati

The first two are institutions of the Department of Science and Technology, and the team was led by Dr. Pradip Pachfule, Prof. Ramendra Sundar Dey and Prof. Ranjit Thapa respectively, with the findings published in the journal Science Advances.

Q237.Science & TechnologyEasy

The newly developed metal-free catalyst TTT-DHTD is designed to replace which costly metal used in clean-energy devices?

  1. A.Palladium
  2. B.Platinum
  3. C.Iridium
  4. D.Ruthenium
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Platinum

Many clean-energy technologies, and hydrogen fuel cells in particular, depend on platinum to speed up the oxygen reduction reaction, and because it is one of the rarest and most expensive metals available, its cost and limited supply stand in the way of large-scale use.
