NDA GK Questions 2026

Static general knowledge makes up about 90% of Part B of the NDA General Ability Test, about 360 of its 400 marks. The NDA & NA (II) 2026 notice divides it into five sections: Physics (about 25%), Chemistry (about 15%), General Science (about 10%), History, Freedom Movement etc. (about 20%) and Geography (about 20%). Half of Part B is science. Physics covers matter, motion, gravitation, heat, sound, light, magnetism, electricity and the working of everyday devices such as the siphon, pressure cooker, periscope and safety fuse. Chemistry covers changes of matter, elements and compounds, common gases, acids, bases and salts, carbon, fertilizers and the materials used to make soap, glass, cement and gunpowder. General Science covers cells, the human body, diseases, diet, the solar system and eminent scientists. Section D spans Indian history and culture, the freedom movement, the Constitution, Five Year Plans, Panchayati Raj and world history from the Renaissance to the Russian Revolution. Geography covers the Earth, rocks, oceans, the atmosphere and climate, and India's resources, industries, ports and trade. This page holds GK24's topic-wise GK notes for NDA, in English and Hindi, written as short facts and tables. Read a topic, then solve its quiz and previous-year questions on this site.

NDA GK Questions with Answers

Q407.General ScienceAsked in: CDS · CDS-II 2026, GKEasy

Which one of the following is NOT true of mitotic cell division ?

  1. A.The nuclei of the two daughter cells in mitosis have same number of chromosomes
  2. B.Replacement of cell and tissue repairing is possible through mitosis
  3. C.Asexual reproduction in eukaryotes is done by mitosis
  4. D.The cells become haploid as a result of mitosis
Show answer
Correct answer: D. The cells become haploid as a result of mitosis

Mitosis keeps the chromosome number unchanged, so it never makes cells haploid; that is the work of meiosis. In mitosis one parent cell divides once and gives two daughter cells that are genetically identical to it.

Q408.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2019, GATEasy

Which one of the following statements regarding Cholera is correct?

  1. A.Cholera is a disease that causes loss of memory
  2. B.Cholera is a disease of muscles due to consumption of alcohol
  3. C.Cholera is a disease due to consumption of contaminated food or water
  4. D.Cholera is a genetic disease
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Cholera is a disease due to consumption of contaminated food or water

It is caused by the bacterium Vibrio cholerae, which spreads through food and water polluted with human faeces. The bacterium was identified by Robert Koch in 1883.

Q409.Indian HistoryAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2017, GATMedium

Which one of the following statements regarding King Krishnadevaraya is NOT correct ?

  1. A.He was a great scholar of Telugu and Sanskrit
  2. B.Foreign travellers Paes and Nuniz visited his court
  3. C.Barbosa praised him for the great justice and equity prevailing in his empire
  4. D.He wrote his magnum opus Amuktamalyada in Sanskrit
Show answer
Correct answer: D. He wrote his magnum opus Amuktamalyada in Sanskrit

Amuktamalyada is a Telugu work, not a Sanskrit one, so this statement is wrong. Krishnadevaraya (ruled 1509–1529) was the greatest king of the Tuluva dynasty of Vijayanagara.

Q410.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-II 2017, GATMedium

Which one of the following is a chemical change?

  1. A.Cutting of hair
  2. B.Graying of hair naturally
  3. C.Swelling of resin in water
  4. D.Cutting of fruit
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Graying of hair naturally

Hair turns grey because the chemical make-up of the hair changes as the body stops producing the pigment melanin, so new substances form and the change cannot be reversed.

Q412.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2017, GATMedium

Which one of the following physical quantities does NOT affect the resistance of a cylindrical resistor ?

  1. A.The current through it
  2. B.Its length
  3. C.The resistivity of the material used in the resistor
  4. D.The area of cross-section of the cylinder
Show answer
Correct answer: A. The current through it

The resistance of a conductor depends on its material and shape, not on how much current flows through it. For a cylindrical conductor, R = ρL/A, where ρ is the resistivity of the material, L the length and A the area of cross-section.

Q415.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2019, GATMedium

Which one of the following statements regarding Penicillin is correct ?

  1. A.Penicillin resistant bacteria can store this antibiotic in vacuole
  2. B.Penicillin resistant bacteria can degrade this antibiotic by an enzyme called β-lactamase
  3. C.Penicillin resistant bacteria can degrade this antibiotic by an enzyme called lactic acid dehydrogenase
  4. D.Penicillin is not absorbed by bacteria; so most bacteria are resistant
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Penicillin resistant bacteria can degrade this antibiotic by an enzyme called β-lactamase

The enzyme breaks the β-lactam ring that gives penicillin its power. Penicillin was discovered by Alexander Fleming in 1928 from the mould Penicillium notatum.

Q416.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2017, GATEasy

Which one of the following statements is correct with regard to the material of electrical insulators ?

  1. A.They contain no electrons
  2. B.Electrons do not flow easily through them
  3. C.They are crystals
  4. D.They have more number of electrons than the protons on their surface
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Electrons do not flow easily through them

In an insulator the electrons are tightly bound to their atoms, so there are almost no free electrons to carry a current.

Q417.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-II 2017, GATMedium

Zinc is used to protect iron from corrosion because zinc is

  1. A.more electropositive than iron
  2. B.cheaper than iron
  3. C.a bluish white metal
  4. D.a good conductor of heat and electricity
Show answer
Correct answer: A. more electropositive than iron

Zinc gives up electrons more readily than iron, so it corrodes first and keeps the iron safe. Coating iron or steel with a thin layer of zinc is called galvanisation.

Q418.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2019, GATEasy

Which one of the following statements regarding Electrocardiogram is correct ?

  1. A.Electrocardiogram is graphical representation of electrical activity of cornea
  2. B.Electrocardiogram is graphical representation of activity of kidney
  3. C.Electrocardiogram is graphical representation of activity of brain
  4. D.Electrocardiogram is graphical representation of electrical activity of heart
Show answer
Correct answer: D. Electrocardiogram is graphical representation of electrical activity of heart

An ECG records the electrical signals that make the heart muscle contract with each beat. Each heartbeat starts at the sino-atrial (SA) node, the natural pacemaker in the right atrium.

Q419.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2025, GATEasy
