Static general knowledge makes up about 90% of Part B of the NDA General Ability Test, about 360 of its 400 marks. The NDA & NA (II) 2026 notice divides it into five sections: Physics (about 25%), Chemistry (about 15%), General Science (about 10%), History, Freedom Movement etc. (about 20%) and Geography (about 20%). Half of Part B is science. Physics covers matter, motion, gravitation, heat, sound, light, magnetism, electricity and the working of everyday devices such as the siphon, pressure cooker, periscope and safety fuse. Chemistry covers changes of matter, elements and compounds, common gases, acids, bases and salts, carbon, fertilizers and the materials used to make soap, glass, cement and gunpowder. General Science covers cells, the human body, diseases, diet, the solar system and eminent scientists. Section D spans Indian history and culture, the freedom movement, the Constitution, Five Year Plans, Panchayati Raj and world history from the Renaissance to the Russian Revolution. Geography covers the Earth, rocks, oceans, the atmosphere and climate, and India's resources, industries, ports and trade. This page holds GK24's topic-wise GK notes for NDA, in English and Hindi, written as short facts and tables. Read a topic, then solve its quiz and previous-year questions on this site.

  1. A.force acting on the conductor
  2. B.electric field
  3. C.induced current
  4. D.current
Show answer
Correct answer: C. induced current

Fleming's right-hand rule is used for electromagnetic induction, as in a generator, and its middle finger gives the direction of the current induced in the conductor.

Q1985.GeographyAsked in: NDA · NDA-II 2022, GATMedium

Piecing together the puzzle of geologic time to create and analyze historical maps of the Earth is known as

  1. A.paleoclimatology
  2. B.paleogeomorphology
  3. C.paleolithology
  4. D.paleogeography
Show answer
Correct answer: D. paleogeography

Paleogeography is the study of the Earth's geography in the geological past, and its main product is a set of maps showing where continents, oceans, mountains and shorelines lay at different times.

Q1986.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2024, GATMedium

Human body works in the pH range of :

  1. A.6.8 - 7.2
  2. B.7.0 - 7.8
  3. C.6.5 - 7.5
  4. D.7.5 - 8.0
Show answer
Correct answer: B. 7.0 - 7.8

NCERT's Class 10 chemistry chapter on acids, bases and salts states that our body works within the narrow pH range of 7.0 to 7.8, which is slightly basic.

Q1989.Indian PolityAsked in: NDA · NDA-II 2025, GATMedium

Which one of the following committees is NOT associated with decentralization of Panchayati Raj institutions in India ?

  1. A.Balwant Rai Mehta Committee
  2. B.Ashok Mehta Committee
  3. C.L. M. Singhvi Committee
  4. D.Abhijit Sen Committee
Show answer
Correct answer: D. Abhijit Sen Committee

The Abhijit Sen Committee dealt with agricultural economics, not local self-government. Its best-known reports were on a long-term grain policy in 2002 and on whether futures trading pushed up farm prices in 2008.

Q1990.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2026, GATMedium

In which of the following parts of organisms, the process of gaseous exchange during respiration does not take place?

  1. A.Skin of earthworms
  2. B.Bronchi of humans
  3. C.Gills of Pila
  4. D.Alveoli of humans
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Bronchi of humans

The bronchi only carry air between the windpipe and the lungs; their walls are too thick for oxygen and carbon dioxide to pass into the blood, so no gas exchange happens there.

Q1991.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-II 2026, GATMedium

Which of the following cells form components of complex permanent tissue in plants ? I. Companion cells II. Sieve tubes III. Tracheids IV. Vessels Select the answer using the code given below :

  1. A.I, II, III and IV
  2. B.II, III and IV only
  3. C.I, III and IV only
  4. D.I and II only
Show answer
Correct answer: A. I, II, III and IV

All four are parts of the two complex permanent tissues of plants: tracheids and vessels belong to xylem, while sieve tubes and companion cells belong to phloem.

Q1992.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-II 2017, GATEasy

How long does light take to reach the Earth from the Sun ?

  1. A.About 4 minutes
  2. B.About 8 minutes
  3. C.About 24 minutes
  4. D.About 24 hours
Show answer
Correct answer: B. About 8 minutes

Sunlight takes about 8 minutes and 20 seconds, roughly 500 seconds, to travel from the Sun to the Earth. The average distance between the Sun and the Earth is about 150 million kilometres, a distance called one astronomical unit.

Q1993.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2018, GATEasy

Who among the following first discovered cell ?

  2. B.Robert Hooke
  3. C.Leeuwenhoek
  4. D.Rudolf Virchow

Show answer
Correct answer: C. Viruses can synthesize their food through photosynthesis.

This is false because viruses have no chlorophyll, no cell organelles and no metabolism of their own, so they cannot make food in any way.
