NDA GK Questions 2026

Static general knowledge makes up about 90% of Part B of the NDA General Ability Test, about 360 of its 400 marks. The NDA & NA (II) 2026 notice divides it into five sections: Physics (about 25%), Chemistry (about 15%), General Science (about 10%), History, Freedom Movement etc. (about 20%) and Geography (about 20%). Half of Part B is science. Physics covers matter, motion, gravitation, heat, sound, light, magnetism, electricity and the working of everyday devices such as the siphon, pressure cooker, periscope and safety fuse. Chemistry covers changes of matter, elements and compounds, common gases, acids, bases and salts, carbon, fertilizers and the materials used to make soap, glass, cement and gunpowder. General Science covers cells, the human body, diseases, diet, the solar system and eminent scientists. Section D spans Indian history and culture, the freedom movement, the Constitution, Five Year Plans, Panchayati Raj and world history from the Renaissance to the Russian Revolution. Geography covers the Earth, rocks, oceans, the atmosphere and climate, and India's resources, industries, ports and trade. NDA GK Questions with Answers

Q1942.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-II 2026, GATEasy

Which of the following organisms show external fertilization? I. Pigeon II. Frog III. Fish IV. Lizard Select the answer using the code given below:

  1. A.II, III and IV
  2. B.II and III only
  3. C.I and IV only
  4. D.I, II and III
Show answer
Correct answer: B. II and III only

Frogs and most fishes release their eggs and sperm into water, where fertilisation takes place outside the female's body. In external fertilisation, a large number of eggs and sperm are shed together, because many are lost to currents and predators.

Q1944.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-II 2017, GATEasy

Radioactivity is measured by

  1. A.GM Counter
  2. B.Polarimeter
  3. C.Calorimeter
  4. D.Colorimeter
Show answer
Correct answer: A. GM Counter

The Geiger-Müller counter detects and counts the ionising radiation given out by radioactive substances, so it is the standard instrument for measuring radioactivity.

Q1947.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-II 2019, GATEasy

Compared to audible sound waves, ultrasound waves have

  1. A.higher speed.
  2. B.higher frequency.
  3. C.longer wavelength.
  4. D.both higher speed and frequency.
Show answer
Correct answer: B. higher frequency.

Ultrasound is sound with a frequency above 20,000 hertz, the upper limit of human hearing, so its defining feature is a higher frequency than audible sound.

Q1949.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2021, GATMedium

Light waves are incident on an air-glass boundary. Some of the light waves are reflected and some are refracted in the glass. Which one of the following properties is the same for the incident wave and the refracted wave?

  1. A.Speed
  2. B.Direction
  3. C.Brightness
  4. D.Frequency
Show answer
Correct answer: D. Frequency

The frequency of a wave is set by its source, so it does not change when light passes from air into glass; only the speed and wavelength change.

Q1950.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2022, GATHard

Two resistors R1 and R2 arranged in parallel combination in an electrical closed circuit are made of the same material and of same thickness. If the length of R2 is twice the length of R1, then the total resistance R satisfies

  1. A.3R = 2R1
  2. B.3R = 2R2
  3. C.2R = 3R1
  4. D.2R = 3R2
Show answer
Correct answer: A. 3R = 2R1

Since both wires have the same material and thickness, resistance is proportional to length, so R2 = 2R1, and the parallel combination works out to R = 2R1/3.

Q1952.Art & CultureAsked in: NDA · NDA-II 2023, GATHard

Consider the following statements regarding Sanchi and its archaeological findings: 1. When Sanchi was discovered in 1818, three of its four gateways were still standing, the fourth was lying on the spot where it had fallen 2. 1. A.Only 1
  2. B.Only 2
  3. C.Both 1 and 2
  4. D.Neither 1 nor 2
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Both 1 and 2

Both statements match the record of the Great Stupa at Sanchi, in Madhya Pradesh, as NCERT's Class 12 history text describes it.

Q1953.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2024, GATMedium

Which one among the following statements with reference to the properties of water is not correct?

  1. A.The specific heat of water is abnormally high.
  2. B.Latent heat of fusion of water is very low.
  3. C.Density of water is higher than ice.
  4. D.Pure water is a non-conductor of electricity.
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Latent heat of fusion of water is very low.

The statement is false because the latent heat of fusion of ice is high, about 334 joules per gram, or roughly 80 calories per gram.
