The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, working through Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), held the Youth for Viksit Bharat: MY Bharat Youth Convention at Swatantrata Bhavan, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), in Varanasi. The gathering brought together young achievers, sportspersons, digital content creators and young leaders, and was meant to draw more of them into nation-building.

Who attended

Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya addressed the convention. With him were Shri Girish Chandra Yadav, Minister of State with independent charge for Youth Welfare and Sports in the Government of Uttar Pradesh, and Shri Sunil Paliwal, Secretary of the Department of Youth Affairs. Indian cricketer Dhruv Jurel and Vishal Chaturvedi, director of Hanuman Ansh, also spoke with the participants.

The minister's message

Dr. Mandaviya asked young people to see themselves as active partners and ambassadors of Viksit Bharat rather than only as beneficiaries of the country's growth. Pointing to the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047, he said today's youth would be the generation that lives in and leads India in 2047. He placed discipline, service, responsibility and respect at the centre of nation-building, and argued that small but steady efforts can bring large results. He also urged young citizens to join the Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Abhiyan, to spread awareness against substance abuse and to use their creativity and digital influence for positive social change.

Achievers felicitated

A major part of the convention was the felicitation of achievers. Asian Games medallists Rohit Yadav, Prachi Choudhary, Parul Choudhary, Jay Kumar and Raj Kumar Pal were honoured for their sporting record. Arpit Giri, Aditya Upadhyay and Avantika, who cleared the JEE and won admission to IIT (BHU), were felicitated for their academic achievement. Eleven content creators, among them Prajwal Prajapati, Abhishek Chaurasiya, Harsh Gupta and Shivam Pandey, were honoured for the part digital platforms play in youth engagement.

Culture on the programme

Dhruv Jurel spoke of discipline and perseverance in sport. A musical performance by Sadhu Tiwari, associated with Hanuman Ansh, was followed by folk music, a nukkad natak and a folk dance presented by MY Bharat volunteers. The convention set out the role of MY Bharat in linking young citizens to volunteering, leadership, experiential learning and community work, and in carrying forward the goal of a developed India.

Where was the Youth for Viksit Bharat: MY Bharat Youth Convention held?

  1. A.Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi
  2. B.Swatantrata Bhavan, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi
  3. C.Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi
  4. D.Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Lucknow
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Swatantrata Bhavan, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi

Explanation

The correct answer is Swatantrata Bhavan, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, the venue of the convention organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports through Mera Yuva Bharat. The choice of venue matters because the same campus houses IIT (BHU), where the students felicitated for clearing the engineering entrance had won admission. Option A, Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, and option C, Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, are frequent venues for national conferences but not for this one. Option D, Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow, is a large convention centre in the capital of Uttar Pradesh and is a plausible distractor, since a minister of that state took part, yet the convention was held in Varanasi and not in Lucknow.

Q2.NationalEasy

Which Union Minister addressed the MY Bharat Youth Convention at Varanasi?

  1. A.The Union Minister for Education
  2. B.Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports
  3. C.Girish Chandra Yadav
  4. D.Sunil Paliwal
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports

Explanation

The correct answer is Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, who addressed the convention and asked young people to become ambassadors of a developed India. Option A is wrong because the convention was an event of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, not of the Ministry of Education, even though students who cleared the engineering entrance were felicitated. Option C names the Minister of State with independent charge for Youth Welfare and Sports in the Government of Uttar Pradesh, who attended but is a state minister and not a Union Minister. Option D names the Secretary of the Department of Youth Affairs, a civil servant who was present at the event rather than a minister addressing it.

Q3.NationalMedium

Which campaign against substance abuse was highlighted at the MY Bharat Youth Convention?

  1. A.Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Abhiyan
  2. B.Fit India Movement
  3. C.Khelo India Yuva Abhiyan
  4. D.Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat
Show answer
Correct answer: A. Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Abhiyan

Explanation

The correct answer is the Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Abhiyan. The minister said substance abuse threatens young people's potential, the well-being of families and national progress, and asked young citizens to spread awareness, encourage positive choices and mobilise their communities towards a drug-free society. Option B, the Fit India Movement, is a separate campaign of the same ministry promoting physical fitness. Option C names a scheme of the sports side of the ministry for identifying and training young athletes, which is close in spirit but not the campaign described here. Option D, Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, is the initiative under which cultural exchanges between paired states are organised, so it belongs to a different programme altogether.
