Special Campaign 6.0 Ends in Parliamentary Affairs Ministry

Why in News

On 31 October 2026 the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs announced the close of its participation in Special Campaign 6.0, which ran from 2 to 31 October 2026, with figures for files weeded out and e-files closed.

The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has wound up its part in Special Campaign 6.0, the government-wide drive to make cleanliness a settled habit in offices and to bring pending work down. The campaign ran from 2 to 31 October 2026.

Who runs the campaign

The drive is steered by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG). Its purpose is to fix Swachhata as a routine part of government offices and to lift administrative efficiency through orderly record keeping, the clearing of pending matters on time and better use of the space an office occupies.

How the ministry went about it

In the preparatory stage the ministry fixed its own targets on record management, cleanliness and the removal of material that had outlived its use. The stage that followed was about meeting those targets and tightening the way the office works.

The file figures

  • 134 physical files were marked for review, and of these 58 were picked for weeding out and have since been weeded out.
  • 200 e-files were reviewed and 117 of them were closed.

Inspections were carried out by senior officers led by the Secretary and the Additional Secretary of the ministry, covering the sections and offices to judge how clean each of them was being kept.

Paperless working

The ministry pushes digital and paperless work through a row of platforms: e-Office, e-HRMS, the Consultative Committee Management System, the Sub-ordinate Legislation Management System, the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), OAMS and the National Youth Parliament Portal. NeVA, the ministry's flagship initiative, carries the paperless working of State Legislatures, which saves paper and speeds up legislative business.

The same drive in agricultural research

The Department of Agricultural Research and Education and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) observed the campaign across their institutes. Work there covered cleaning and improving office space, separating and handling waste responsibly, reusing what could be reused, record management, digitisation, plantation, scrap disposal and e-waste management. Institutes identified black spots in and around their campuses and cleaned them. Free medical camps were held on several campuses, safaimitras were felicitated, and farmers and local people were drawn into awareness activities. ICAR-CITH Srinagar was among the campuses that showed before-and-after results.
