Bharat 6G Alliance Signs Five MoUs at 3rd 6G Symposium
The 3rd International Bharat 6G Symposium ended at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, with five new MoUs exchanged and ten white papers released by the Bharat 6G Alliance.

Why in News
On 9 October 2026 the 3rd International Bharat 6G Symposium concluded at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, New Delhi, where the Bharat 6G Alliance exchanged five new MoUs with international bodies and released ten white papers and reports.
The 3rd International Bharat 6G Symposium closed at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, in New Delhi, with a valedictory address by Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development. The Bharat 6G Alliance ran the three-day meeting alongside the India Mobile Congress. Telecom leaders from abroad, policymakers, standards bodies, industry, academics and researchers used it to map the road towards IMT-2030 and beyond. The minister thanked the Alliance for drawing more than 75 speakers, among them over 30 experts from other countries.
What the symposium produced
- Five fresh memoranda of understanding were exchanged, with GSMA, one6G, the GTI Alliance, the 6G Innovation Forum of Taiwan and VOICE, opening the way to joint research, trials and shared learning.
- Ten white papers and reports were released, one of them a progress report on the 6G Joint Principles.
- Sessions covered 5G-Advanced as a base for 6G, global standards, spectrum and WRC-27, international trials and testbeds, networks that are sustainable and built around artificial intelligence, startups and universities, global alliances and industrial use cases.
Affordability as a design rule
Dr. Pemmasani said India is moving from being one of the largest telecom markets in the world to becoming a country that makes telecom technology, and that self-reliance and working with others are not opposites: stronger capability makes a stronger partner. He warned that 6G must not open a fresh digital gap while the old one is still being closed, so cost, reach and coverage have to be treated as design requirements rather than later repairs. Joining ground networks with satellites, he said, can carry a signal past the last tower — to distant villages, islands and the open sea. India is willing to test such systems at scale and share the findings. He placed all of it against the national goal of a developed India by 2047, the hundredth year of independence.
A curtain raiser for ESTIC 2026
At the same session the Department of Telecommunications previewed the second Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave, set for 27 to 29 October 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. It is guided by the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser and organised by CSIR with 12 participating ministries and departments, on the theme “Creative Minds, Catalyzing Science, Empowering Technologies”. The three days hold plenary talks, nine thematic technical sessions, panels, exhibitions and business meetings. The Department of Telecommunications will lead the session on Intelligent Networks and Quantum Communication on 28 October 2026, with a keynote by N. G. Subramaniam of TCS and a panel from IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, HFCL, Reliance Jio and the Alliance, moderated by Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, chief executive of C-DOT. The Bharat 6G Alliance itself was set up in July 2023 as an industry-led platform.

Practice Questions
How many new MoUs did the Bharat 6G Alliance exchange at the 3rd International Bharat 6G Symposium?
- A.Three
- B.Four
- C.Five
- D.Seven
Show answer
Explanation
The correct answer is five. A key outcome of the symposium was the exchange of five new memoranda of understanding, with GSMA, one6G, the GTI Alliance, the 6G Innovation Forum of Taiwan and VOICE, which open the way to international cooperation, joint research, trials and the sharing of knowledge. Options A, B and D, three, four and seven, are wrong because they do not match the count; a candidate who remembers only that several agreements were signed will be caught by them. It helps to learn the partners alongside the number, since a paper setter may ask which body was not among them. The symposium also saw the release of ten white papers and reports, one of which is a progress report on the 6G Joint Principles, and it drew more than 75 speakers, among them over 30 experts from other countries.
Who delivered the valedictory address at the 3rd International Bharat 6G Symposium?
- A.Jyotiraditya M. Scindia
- B.Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani
- C.Dr. Jitendra Singh
- D.Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay
Show answer
Explanation
The correct answer is Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development, who closed the symposium at Yashobhoomi in Dwarka, New Delhi. Option A is wrong because Jyotiraditya M. Scindia is the Minister of Communications and spoke at other events of the week, not at this valedictory session. Option C is wrong because Dr. Jitendra Singh handles science and technology and does not figure here. Option D is wrong because Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, chief executive of the Centre for Development of Telematics, is named as the moderator of a session at the coming conclave, not as the speaker at this one. In his address the minister said that self-reliance and global collaboration are not opposites, and that affordability, accessibility and coverage must be built into 6G from the design stage rather than added later.
The Bharat 6G Alliance was established in which year?
- A.2021
- B.2022
- C.2023
- D.2024
Show answer
Explanation
The correct answer is 2023, the Alliance having been set up in July of that year. It is an industry-led collaborative platform that brings together telecom service providers, industry, startups, academia and research institutions to advance the country's 6G ambitions, and it works on indigenous research and innovation, the creation of intellectual property, engagement with international standards and partnerships for an affordable, secure, sustainable and globally interoperable 6G ecosystem. Options A, B and D are wrong because none of those years is the year of its founding; they are placed close to the right answer because questions on founding years usually turn on a single digit. Candidates should tie the Alliance to its goal of contributing to the IMT-2030 roadmap and to the wider national aim of a developed India by 2047, the hundredth year of independence.
Where will the second Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) be held?
- A.Yashobhoomi, Dwarka
- B.Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi
- C.Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi
- D.Science City, Ahmedabad
Show answer
Explanation
The correct answer is Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The Department of Telecommunications presented a curtain raiser for the second conclave at the valedictory session, and it is scheduled from 27 to 29 October 2026 at that venue, guided by the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser and organised by CSIR along with twelve participating ministries and departments, on the theme 'Creative Minds, Catalyzing Science, Empowering Technologies'. Option A is wrong because Yashobhoomi hosted the 6G symposium itself, not the coming conclave, which makes it the trap in this set. Options C and D are wrong because neither venue is mentioned. The three days hold plenary talks, nine thematic technical sessions, panel discussions, exhibitions and business meetings, and the Department of Telecommunications will lead the session on Intelligent Networks and Quantum Communication.
