11th Ayurveda Day 2026: Nagpur to Host on 23 September
The 11th Ayurveda Day will be observed on 23 September 2026 at Nagpur in Maharashtra on the theme Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow, said Prataprao Jadhav.

Why in News
On 7 September 2026 the Ministry of Ayush announced at a curtain raiser in New Delhi that the 11th Ayurveda Day will be celebrated on 23 September 2026 at Nagpur, Maharashtra, on the theme 'Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow'.
The Ministry of Ayush held a curtain raiser press conference at the National Media Centre, New Delhi, on 7 September 2026. It opened the countrywide campaign for the 11th Ayurveda Day 2026. Shri Prataprao Jadhav, Union Minister of State with independent charge for Ayush and Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, addressed it.

The theme ties India's inheritance in Ayurveda to the health needs that are coming. The minister said the world is turning towards preventive care, nutrition, wellness and a healthy way of living, and that India has long experience in all of these.
Three areas for the campaign
- Integrative Healthcare for Better Health Outcomes, which draws on the strengths of different systems of medicine together.
- Evidence, Research and Innovation in Ayurveda, treated as the pillars on which wider acceptance abroad will rest.
- Ayurveda for Community Wellbeing and Sustainable Living, covering the individual, the family and the community.
The minister asked that the day grow past a government programme into a people's movement and a national health communication campaign. He asked the media to carry correct and simple information to homes, schools, colleges, young people and both rural and urban communities, and to clear away the misconceptions that surround Ayurveda.

Practice Questions
What is the theme of the 11th Ayurveda Day 2026?
- A.Ayurveda for One Health
- B.Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow
- C.Ayurveda for Every Household
- D.Ayurveda for Sustainable Wellness
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow
Explanation
The correct answer is Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow, announced at the curtain raiser held in New Delhi. The ministry explained that the theme is meant to join the country's inheritance in Ayurveda to the health needs of the years ahead, which is why the word tomorrow sits in it. The remaining three options are invented phrases built from words that sound like they belong to an Ayush campaign, and this is the standard way a theme question is set. Note that the theme of a day changes with each edition, so a candidate must fix the edition number, the year and the theme together rather than singly. Here the edition is the eleventh, the year is 2026, the main celebration falls on 23 September 2026 at Nagpur in Maharashtra, and the organiser is the Ministry of Ayush. The three focus areas were integrative healthcare, evidence and research, and community wellbeing.
Where will the main celebration of the 11th Ayurveda Day be held?
- A.Jaipur, Rajasthan
- B.New Delhi
- C.Nagpur, Maharashtra
- D.Goa
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Nagpur, Maharashtra
Explanation
The correct answer is Nagpur, Maharashtra, named in the announcement as the place of the main celebration on 23 September 2026. Option A names Jaipur, which does appear in the release but for a different reason: the National Institute of Ayurveda there, headed by Prof. Sanjeev Sharma, will begin new programmes as part of the occasion, and its Vice-Chancellor set out the plans at the press conference. Option B names New Delhi, which is where the curtain raiser press conference was held at the National Media Centre, and a hurried reader will confuse the city of the announcement with the city of the celebration. Option D names Goa, which does not figure in this release at all. Keep the pair separate in revision, New Delhi for the curtain raiser on 7 September and Nagpur for the main event on 23 September.
Which of these will be released on the occasion of Ayurveda Day 2026?
- A.Ayush Vision 2030
- B.National Health Policy
- C.Ayurveda Pharmacopoeia of the World
- D.National Medical Register
Show answer
Correct answer: A. Ayush Vision 2030
Explanation
The correct answer is Ayush Vision 2030. The Vice-Chancellor of the National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur listed the items planned for the day, and this vision document sits among them along with safety dossiers on medicinal plants, Standard Treatment Guidelines for skin diseases, a report on the Ayush services sector and the exchange of memoranda of understanding. Option B names the National Health Policy, a separate policy document of the health ministry that this release does not mention. Option C invents a pharmacopoeia title that sounds plausible because pharmacopoeial work does happen in the sector, but it is not in the list. Option D names a register of medical practitioners, which belongs to a different regulator altogether. The award to remember alongside these releases is the National Dhanwantari Ayurveda Awards 2026, presented on the same day.
