What the honour means

The President's Colour is the highest honour given to a police force by the President of India. The Home Minister said a State police force earns it for a glorious history, professional excellence, courage, discipline and dedication. He said the Goa Police had completed eight decades of service and had carried three duties since the State was formed: a safe city, a safe community and a secure maritime border. He paid homage to the police personnel Balaram Shinde, Abhishek Sher, Shailesh Gaonkar and Vishwas B. Deykar, who died in the line of duty.

An AI call agent for 1930

The Home Minister said the 1930 helpline will become a strong shield against cyber fraud. The Goa Police has gone a step ahead of other States by putting an AI-based call agent on this helpline. It registers complaints in Konkani, Marathi and Hindi, and, on the Chief Minister's initiative, in every language listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, before routing them to the right authority. Since tourists come to Goa from across the world, this matters for them too.

Shri Shah said three new Nyaya Sanhitas have changed the criminal justice system by bringing in technology, sensitivity, prioritisation and speedy justice.
