UPSC CAPF Previous Year GK Questions

Previous-year questions are the most reliable guide to UPSC CAPF, because the notice lists six broad areas for Paper-I but does not say how many questions each will carry. Solving the papers of recent years shows the balance between current events and static GK, the level of detail UPSC expects in polity, history, geography, economy and science, and how often questions touch security, defence and human rights, areas the syllabus names in both papers. The Commission puts up the question papers of each exam on its website; the 2026 papers of General Ability and Intelligence and of General Studies, Essay and Comprehension went up on 20 July 2026, the day after the exam. This page is where GK24 collects UPSC CAPF previous-year questions of Paper-I, in English and Hindi, each with the correct answer, an explanation and the topic it belongs to, so that one question leads you to the GK note that covers it. Use them in three rounds: first untimed to learn the pattern, then timed to build speed under negative marking, and finally as a revision of the questions you got wrong. For Paper-II, read the past essay, argument and report topics. They show the kind of issues UPSC sets, such as security, governance, technology and society, and make a good list to practise writing on.

Previous Year Questions

1. These are an emerging set of trade policy tools to allow movement of carbon-intensive economic activity from a jurisdiction having less stringent climate policy to a jurisdiction having stringent climate policy

2. These are meant to increase the environmental effectiveness of climate policies

Select the answer using the code given below:

  1. A.1 only
  2. B.2 only
  3. C.Both 1 and 2
  4. D.Neither 1 nor 2
Show answer
Correct answer: B. 2 only

Q22.Computer AwarenessAsked in: UPSC CAPF · CAPF 2025, Paper IEasy

1 gigabyte in binary system is equivalent to

  1. A.1000 kilobytes
  2. B.1024 megabytes
  3. C.1200 megabytes
  4. D.10000 kilobytes
Show answer
Correct answer: B. 1024 megabytes

In the binary system every step up the ladder of memory units is a factor of 2 raised to 10, that is 1024, so one gigabyte holds 1024 megabytes.

Q23.General ScienceAsked in: UPSC CAPF · CAPF 2026, Paper IEasy

A uniform current-carrying narrow solenoid produces

  1. A.uniform magnetic field inside the solenoid
  2. B.uniform magnetic field outside the solenoid
  3. C.magnetic field with straight field lines in all the regions
  4. D.magnetic field with oscillating nature
Show answer
Correct answer: A. uniform magnetic field inside the solenoid

Inside a long, narrow solenoid the field lines run straight and parallel and are evenly spaced, which is the picture of a uniform field.

Q26.General ScienceAsked in: UPSC CAPF · CAPF 2026, Paper IEasy

Which combination of three resistors R1, R2 and R3 has minimum total resistance? (Consider R1 = 1 Ω, R2 = 2 Ω and R3 = 3 Ω)

  1. A.When all are connected in parallel
  2. B.When all are connected in series
  3. C.When R1 and R2 are connected in parallel and R3 is in series of them
  4. D.When R1 and R3 are connected in parallel and R2 is in series of them
Show answer
Correct answer: A. When all are connected in parallel

In parallel the equivalent resistance is always smaller than the smallest single resistor, so here it falls below 1 Ω. For resistors in parallel, 1/R = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3 = 1/1 + 1/2 + 1/3 = 11/6, so R = 6/11 Ω, about 0.55 Ω. Each extra parallel…

Q28.Computer AwarenessAsked in: UPSC CAPF · CAPF 2025, Paper IEasy

What is the correct term used for a set of wires used to connect different internal components of the computer system for the purpose of transferring data as well as addresses amongst them?

  1. A.Hub
  2. B.Port
  3. C.Router
  4. D.Bus
Show answer
Correct answer: D. Bus

A bus is the shared set of electrical lines on the motherboard that carries data, addresses and control signals between the CPU, memory and input-output devices.

Q31.Computer AwarenessAsked in: UPSC CAPF · CAPF 2025, Paper IEasy

Which one of the following is an application of Artificial Intelligence?

  1. A.Database management system
  2. B.Operating system
  3. C.Natural language processing
  4. D.Register
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Natural language processing

NLP is the branch of artificial intelligence that lets computers understand, interpret and produce human language. Artificial intelligence covers systems that perform tasks normally needing human intelligence, such as learning, reasoning and understanding speech or text.

Q32.Indian EconomyAsked in: UPSC CAPF · CAPF 2018, Paper IMedium

Multipliers will be lower with which one of the following?

  1. A.High marginal propensity to consume
  2. B.Low marginal propensity to consume
  3. C.High marginal propensity to invest
  4. D.Low marginal propensity to save
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Low marginal propensity to consume

The investment multiplier equals 1 ÷ (1 − MPC), so the smaller the share of extra income people spend, the smaller the multiplier.

Q33.Indian EconomyAsked in: UPSC CAPF · CAPF 2024, Paper IHard
