SSC CHSL GK Questions 2026

Static GK decides the General Awareness score in SSC CHSL. Of the 25 questions in Tier-I and the 20 in Tier-II, most come from Indian Polity, History, Geography, the Economy and General Science, the areas the CHSL 2026 notice lists as History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Policy and Scientific Research relating to India and its neighbouring countries. The level is that of Class 12, so the questions are direct: which article, which river, which ruler, which year. Polity asks about parts and schedules of the Constitution, fundamental rights, the President, Parliament, the Supreme Court and constitutional bodies. History covers the Indus Valley, the Mauryas and Guptas, the Sultanate and Mughal periods, and the freedom struggle from 1857 to 1947. Geography asks about rivers, soils, climate, national parks, minerals and world physical features. The Economy part asks about budget terms, the RBI, banking and basic concepts. General Science is school-level Physics, Chemistry and Biology with everyday applications, and Culture covers dances, festivals, monuments and books. This page holds GK24's topic-wise GK notes for SSC CHSL, written as short facts and tables so a topic can be revised in one sitting. Read a topic, then solve its previous-year questions and quiz on this site to check what you retained.

SSC CHSL GK Questions with Answers

Q11102.Science & TechnologyHard

APPLE, India's first experimental communication satellite, was launched in 1981 by which launch vehicle?

  1. A.SLV-3 of India
  2. B.A Soviet launch vehicle
  3. C.The European Ariane rocket
  4. D.A United States Space Shuttle
Show answer
Correct answer: C. The European Ariane rocket

The full name of the satellite, Ariane Passenger Payload Experiment, contains the answer, since it flew as a passenger on an Ariane launch in 1981 to test the building of a geostationary communication satellite in India.

Q11103.Science & TechnologyMedium

GAGAN, the satellite based augmentation system, is a joint project of ISRO and which organisation?

  1. A.Indian Air Force
  2. B.Airports Authority of India
  3. C.Indian Meteorological Department
  4. D.Directorate General of Shipping
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Airports Authority of India

GAGAN stands for GPS Aided GEO Augmented Navigation and was developed by ISRO together with the Airports Authority so that civil aircraft in Indian airspace get position information accurate and reliable enough for approach and landing.

Q11105.Science & TechnologyMedium

Which was India's first operational remote sensing satellite?

  1. A.Bhaskara-1
  2. B.IRS-1A
  3. C.Cartosat-1
  4. D.RISAT-1
Show answer
Correct answer: B. IRS-1A

The correct answer is B, IRS-1A, launched in 1988, which began the Indian Remote Sensing series and was the first such satellite whose data was used routinely for crop assessment, forest mapping, water resources and land use rather than only for experiment.

Q11106.Science & TechnologyHard

India's solar mission Aditya-L1 has been placed in a halo orbit around which point?

  1. A.The second Lagrange point, L2
  2. B.The first Lagrange point, L1
  3. C.A polar orbit around the sun
  4. D.A geostationary orbit around the earth
Show answer
Correct answer: B. The first Lagrange point, L1

A Lagrange point is a place where the gravitational pulls of the two bodies and the orbital motion balance, so a spacecraft can stay there with very little fuel, and from L1 the sun can be watched continuously without eclipse or occultation.

Q11107.Science & TechnologyMedium

Astrosat, launched in September 2015, was India's first satellite of which kind?

  1. A.Radar imaging satellite
  2. B.Dedicated multi-wavelength space observatory
  3. C.Navigation satellite
  4. D.Educational satellite
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Dedicated multi-wavelength space observatory

Astrosat was launched on 28 September 2015 by a PSLV and carries instruments that observe the same cosmic source in the ultraviolet, the visible and the X-ray bands at the same time, which is what multi-wavelength means and what makes the mission unusual among space telescopes of its size.

Q11110.Science & TechnologyEasy

What does NavIC stand for?

  1. A.Navigation with Indian Constellation
  2. B.National Voyage and Indian Communication
  3. C.Navigation Indian Coordinates
  4. D.Navigational Information Centre
Show answer
Correct answer: A. Navigation with Indian Constellation

The name was given in 2016 to the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System, IRNSS, when the seventh satellite of the constellation was placed in orbit, and the word navik also carries the sense of a sailor or navigator, which is why it was chosen.

Q11116.Science & TechnologyEasy

Indian satellites are launched into orbit from which centre?

  1. A.Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Thiruvananthapuram
  2. B.Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota
  3. C.U R Rao Satellite Centre, Bengaluru
  4. D.Space Applications Centre, Ahmedabad
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota

It is India's only orbital launch site, on the east coast, so vehicles can fly out eastwards over the Bay of Bengal and take the free gain from the earth's rotation while the spent stages fall harmlessly into the sea.

Q11118.Science & TechnologyMedium

  3. C.Third stage
  4. D.Fourth stage
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Third stage
