RRB Group D GK Questions 2026

Static GK is not a separate section in RRB Group D, but it decides most of the paper's recall marks. General Science is 25 questions of Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences at 10th standard (CBSE) level as per CEN 09/2025, and the 20 General Awareness questions lean on the standing facts behind the news: the sport, the award, the institution, the state, the river or the scientist an event touches. This page holds GK24's topic-wise GK notes for RRB Group D. The General Science notes go topic by topic through motion and force, work, energy and power, gravitation, heat, light, sound, electricity and magnetism, atomic structure and the periodic table, chemical reactions, acids, bases and salts, metals and non-metals, and carbon compounds, and the Life Sciences notes cover cells, the human body, nutrition, diseases, plants and genetics. The static GK notes cover Indian Railways zones and facts, national symbols, first and largest in India and the world, awards and honours, important days, books and authors, sports GK, art and culture, and the basics of Indian Polity, Geography, History and the Economy. Each note is short facts and tables that can be revised in one sitting. Read a note, then solve its quiz and the previous-year questions on this site to check what stayed.

Q203.General ScienceAsked in: CDS · CDS-II 2019, GKEasy

Which one of the following is monatomic?

  1. A.Hydrogen
  2. B.Sulphur
  3. C.Phosphorus
  4. D.Helium
Show answer
Correct answer: D. Helium

A monatomic element exists as single, separate atoms. Helium is a noble gas of group 18: its only shell, the first, is full with two electrons, so a helium atom has no tendency to share or transfer electrons and does not bond even with another helium atom.

Q206.General ScienceAsked in: CDS · CDS-I 2024, GKMedium

The correct order of atomic radius of Li, Na, Be and O is

  1. A.Na > Li > Be > O
  2. B.Na > Be > Li > O
  3. C.Be > Li > Na > O
  4. D.O > Be > Li > Na
Show answer
Correct answer: A. Na > Li > Be > O

Two trends of the periodic table decide the order. Going down a group, atomic radius increases because each new period adds an electron shell; so sodium, in period 3, is larger than lithium, in period 2, of the same group 1.

Q207.General ScienceAsked in: CDS · CDS-I 2025, GKEasy

Why does the Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum look 'rough' under a microscope ?

  1. A.Due to the presence of ribosomes on its surface
  2. B.Due to the absence of ribosomes on its surface
  3. C.Due to the presence of lysosomes on its surface
  4. D.Due to the presence of mitochondria on its surface
Show answer
Correct answer: A. Due to the presence of ribosomes on its surface

The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is a network of membrane tubes and sacs inside the cell. Part of it is studded on the outside with tiny granules called ribosomes, which give it a dotted, rough look under an electron microscope; this part is the rough ER.

Q208.General ScienceAsked in: CDS · CDS-II 2026, GKEasy

An aqueous solution of an acid conducts electricity. This is because

  1. A.It contains hydrogen ion
  2. B.It contains water molecules
  3. C.Electricity passes through it
  4. D.It generates electricity
Show answer
Correct answer: A. It contains hydrogen ion

When an acid such as hydrochloric acid dissolves in water, it splits into ions: hydrogen ions (H⁺, which join water molecules as hydronium ions, H₃O⁺) and negative ions such as chloride (Cl⁻).

Q209.General ScienceAsked in: CDS · CDS-I 2018, GKMedium

A wire of copper having length l and area of cross-section A is taken and a current I is flown through it. The power dissipated in the wire is P. If we take an aluminium wire having same dimensions and pass the same current through it, the power dissipated will be

  1. A.P
  2. B.< P
  3. C.> P
  4. D.2P
Show answer
Correct answer: C. > P

The power turned into heat in a wire carrying a current I is P = I²R, and the resistance of a wire is R = ρl/A, where ρ is the resistivity of its material.

Q210.General ScienceAsked in: CDS · CDS-I 2025, GKEasy

Myopia is also known as :

  1. A.Far-sightedness
  2. B.Near-sightedness
  3. C.Cataract
  4. D.Presbyopia
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Near-sightedness

A person with myopia sees nearby objects clearly but finds distant objects blurred, which is why the defect is called near-sightedness or short-sightedness.

Q211.General ScienceAsked in: CDS · CDS-II 2026, GKEasy

The mass of one mole of a substance in grams is called its

  1. A.Kilo-gram mass
  2. B.Gram-mass
  3. C.Molar-mass
  4. D.All the above
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Molar-mass

The mass of one mole of any substance, expressed in grams, is by definition its molar mass. One mole contains the Avogadro number of particles, about 6.022 × 10 23, so the molar mass links the mass we can weigh to the number of atoms or molecules present.

Q212.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2019, GATEasy

A fuse wire must be

  1. A.conducting and of low melting point
  2. B.conducting and of high melting point
  3. C.insulator and of high melting point
  4. D.insulator and of low melting point
Show answer
Correct answer: A. conducting and of low melting point

A fuse must carry the normal current, so it must conduct, and it must melt quickly when the current becomes too large.
