NDA GK Questions 2026

Static general knowledge makes up about 90% of Part B of the NDA General Ability Test, about 360 of its 400 marks. The NDA & NA (II) 2026 notice divides it into five sections: Physics (about 25%), Chemistry (about 15%), General Science (about 10%), History, Freedom Movement etc. (about 20%) and Geography (about 20%). Half of Part B is science. Physics covers matter, motion, gravitation, heat, sound, light, magnetism, electricity and the working of everyday devices such as the siphon, pressure cooker, periscope and safety fuse. Chemistry covers changes of matter, elements and compounds, common gases, acids, bases and salts, carbon, fertilizers and the materials used to make soap, glass, cement and gunpowder. General Science covers cells, the human body, diseases, diet, the solar system and eminent scientists. Section D spans Indian history and culture, the freedom movement, the Constitution, Five Year Plans, Panchayati Raj and world history from the Renaissance to the Russian Revolution. Geography covers the Earth, rocks, oceans, the atmosphere and climate, and India's resources, industries, ports and trade. This page holds GK24's topic-wise GK notes for NDA, in English and Hindi, written as short facts and tables. Read a topic, then solve its quiz and previous-year questions on this site.

India's Nano Mission, launched in 2007, is implemented under which department of the Government of India?

  1. A.Defence Research and Development Organisation
  2. B.Department of Science and Technology
  3. C.Department of Atomic Energy
  4. D.Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Department of Science and Technology

The Nano Mission, formally the Nano Science and Technology Mission, was launched in 2007 under the Department of Science and Technology, which had already been running the Nano Science and Technology Initiative since 2001, and the mission works on basic research, human resources, infrastructure and the transfer of results to…

The 1959 lecture "There's Plenty of Room at the Bottom", regarded as the beginning of nanotechnology, was delivered by:

  1. A.Richard Feynman
  2. B.Albert Einstein
  3. C.Gerd Binnig
  4. D.Harold Kroto
Show answer
Correct answer: A. Richard Feynman

The American physicist Richard Feynman delivered the talk There's Plenty of Room at the Bottom to the American Physical Society at Caltech in December 1959, in which he argued that there is no law of physics forbidding the manipulation of individual atoms, and the lecture is treated as the conceptual…

Q4587.Science & TechnologyMedium

Who coined the term "nanotechnology"?

  1. A.Richard Feynman
  2. B.Norio Taniguchi
  3. C.K. Eric Drexler
  4. D.Sumio Iijima
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Norio Taniguchi

The Japanese engineer Norio Taniguchi used the word nanotechnology in 1974 to describe machining to tolerances of a nanometre, and that is the coinage examiners expect.

Q4588.Science & TechnologyEasy

One nanometre is equal to which of the following?

  1. A.One millionth of a metre
  2. B.One billionth of a metre
  3. C.One thousandth of a metre
  4. D.One trillionth of a metre
Show answer
Correct answer: B. One billionth of a metre

The prefix nano stands for ten raised to the power minus nine, so one nanometre is one billionth of a metre, which is also ten angstrom, and nanotechnology is defined as work in the band of one to one hundred nanometres.

Q4590.Science & TechnologyMedium

Hydrogen is best described as which of the following?

  1. A.A primary source of energy
  2. B.An energy carrier
  3. C.A fossil fuel
  4. D.A renewable mineral
Show answer
Correct answer: B. An energy carrier

Free hydrogen does not occur in any usable quantity on earth, so it has to be made from water or from a hydrocarbon by spending energy, and it then stores and delivers that energy elsewhere.

Q4592.Science & TechnologyHard

In the National Green Hydrogen Mission, SIGHT stands for:

  1. A.Scheme for Indian Green Hydrogen Technology
  2. B.Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition
  3. C.Subsidy Incentive for Green Hydrogen Trade
  4. D.Support for Industrial Green Hydrogen Targets
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition

SIGHT is the largest component of the mission, with an outlay of seventeen thousand four hundred ninety crore rupees, and it has two parts: incentives for manufacturing electrolysers in India and incentives for producing green hydrogen, both awarded through competitive bidding.

Q4593.Science & TechnologyEasy

Which is the nodal ministry for the National Green Hydrogen Mission?

  1. A.Ministry of Power
  2. B.Ministry of New and Renewable Energy
  3. C.Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas
  4. D.Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Ministry of New and Renewable Energy

The MNRE is the nodal ministry for the mission, frames the guidelines for each of its components and notified the Green Hydrogen Standard for India in August 2023.

Q4594.Science & TechnologyMedium

The National Green Hydrogen Mission targets a green hydrogen production capacity of how much by 2030?

  1. A.At least 1 million metric tonnes a year
  2. B.At least 5 million metric tonnes a year
  3. C.At least 50 million metric tonnes a year
  4. D.At least 125 million metric tonnes a year
Show answer
Correct answer: B. At least 5 million metric tonnes a year

The mission aims to build a green hydrogen production capacity of at least five million metric tonnes a year by 2030, with the potential to rise further if an export market develops, and this is the single figure most often asked from the mission.

Q4596.Science & TechnologyHard

Under the Green Hydrogen Standard for India, hydrogen qualifies as green if its well-to-gate emissions do not exceed:

  1. A.1 kg of carbon dioxide equivalent per kg of hydrogen
  2. B.2 kg of carbon dioxide equivalent per kg of hydrogen
  3. C.5 kg of carbon dioxide equivalent per kg of hydrogen
  4. D.10 kg of carbon dioxide equivalent per kg of hydrogen
Show answer
Correct answer: B. 2 kg of carbon dioxide equivalent per kg of hydrogen

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy notified the Green Hydrogen Standard for India in August 2023, fixing the limit at two kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent for each kilogram of hydrogen, averaged over twelve months, and covering the whole chain from water treatment through electrolysis, purification, drying and compression…

Q4598.Science & TechnologyEasy
