NDA GK Questions 2026

Static general knowledge makes up about 90% of Part B of the NDA General Ability Test, about 360 of its 400 marks. The NDA & NA (II) 2026 notice divides it into five sections: Physics (about 25%), Chemistry (about 15%), General Science (about 10%), History, Freedom Movement etc. (about 20%) and Geography (about 20%). Half of Part B is science. Physics covers matter, motion, gravitation, heat, sound, light, magnetism, electricity and the working of everyday devices such as the siphon, pressure cooker, periscope and safety fuse. Chemistry covers changes of matter, elements and compounds, common gases, acids, bases and salts, carbon, fertilizers and the materials used to make soap, glass, cement and gunpowder. General Science covers cells, the human body, diseases, diet, the solar system and eminent scientists. Section D spans Indian history and culture, the freedom movement, the Constitution, Five Year Plans, Panchayati Raj and world history from the Renaissance to the Russian Revolution. Geography covers the Earth, rocks, oceans, the atmosphere and climate, and India's resources, industries, ports and trade. A fjord is best described as which of the following?

  1. A.A narrow desert valley cut by wind
  2. B.A deep glacial trough later invaded by the sea
  3. C.A volcanic crater filled with rainwater
  4. D.A river gorge formed in soft limestone
Show answer
Correct answer: B. A deep glacial trough later invaded by the sea

A valley glacier reaching the coast scoops its floor below present sea level; when the ice melts and the sea rises, water floods the trough and leaves a long, narrow, steep-sided inlet with great depth.

An ox-bow lake is formed by which of the following?

  1. A.A glacier scooping out a hollow
  2. B.A meandering river cutting off a loop
  3. C.Wind deflation in a desert
  4. D.Volcanic subsidence of a crater
Show answer
Correct answer: B. A meandering river cutting off a loop

In its middle and lower course a river swings from side to side, eroding the outer bank of each bend and depositing on the inner bank.

Q4607.GeographyEasy

Exfoliation, in which curved shells of rock peel away from a granite dome like the skin of an onion, is an example of which process?

  1. A.Chemical weathering
  2. B.Physical weathering
  3. C.Glacial erosion
  4. D.Wind deposition
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Physical weathering

Exfoliation is caused by repeated heating and cooling of the outer layer of a rock and by the release of pressure when overlying material is removed; the surface expands and contracts more than the interior and splits away as curved sheets.

Consider the following types of erosion and arrange them in the correct sequence in the increasing order of soil loss from a field: I. Gully erosion II. Splash erosion III. Rill erosion IV. Sheet erosion. Select the correct answer from the codes given below.

  1. A.IV, I, III, II
  2. B.II, IV, III, I
  3. C.III, II, I, IV
  4. D.II, III, IV, I
Show answer
Correct answer: B. II, IV, III, I

Water erosion passes through stages, and the soil lost grows at every stage. Splash erosion, numbered II, is the first and mildest: raindrops strike bare soil and knock single particles a few centimetres away.

Which of the following is NOT a method of soil conservation?

  1. A.Intercropping
  2. B.Shelter belts
  3. C.Rock dam
  4. D.Overgrazing
Show answer
Correct answer: D. Overgrazing

Overgrazing strips the protective cover of grass, loosens the surface with hooves and leaves bare soil exposed to rain and wind, so it is one of the leading causes of soil erosion in dry India, never a remedy.

Q4610.GeographyAsked in: SSC CGL · 11 April 2022, Shift 2Easy

Which of the following is the main cause of 'bad lands'?

  1. A.Scanty rainfall
  2. B.Soil erosion
  3. C.Excessive forest cover
  4. D.Open defecation
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Soil erosion

Bad lands are stretches of land cut into a close network of deep gullies and sharp ridges, so dissected that cultivation becomes impossible, and they are produced when running water removes the topsoil through sheet wash that concentrates first into rills and then into gullies.

Q4611.General ScienceMedium

The crescograph, an instrument that magnifies and records the growth of plants, was invented by which Indian scientist?

  1. A.Jagadish Chandra Bose
  2. B.Satyendra Nath Bose
  3. C.Homi Jehangir Bhabha
  4. D.Prafulla Chandra Ray
Show answer
Correct answer: A. Jagadish Chandra Bose

Bose designed the crescograph to magnify the growth of a plant many thousand times and record it on a smoked glass plate, which allowed him to show that plants respond to light, heat, touch and other stimuli in ways that resemble responses in animals.

Q4612.General ScienceEasy

A seismograph is an instrument used to record which of the following?

  1. A.Humidity of the air
  2. B.Waves of an earthquake
  3. C.Intensity of light
  4. D.Purity of drinking water
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Waves of an earthquake

A seismograph holds a heavy mass that tends to stay still while the ground and the frame of the instrument move during a tremor; the relative motion is magnified and traced as a seismogram, from which the arrival times of the primary, secondary and surface waves are read.

Q4613.General ScienceMedium

X-rays were discovered by which scientist?

  1. A.Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen
  2. B.Henri Becquerel
  3. C.Marie Curie
  4. D.Thomas Edison
Show answer

The discovery and understanding of electromagnetic induction is based on a long series of experiments carried out by ______.

  1. A.Rutherford
  2. B.Einstein
  3. C.Faraday and Henry
  4. D.Planck and Fermi
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Faraday and Henry
