NDA GK Questions 2026

Static general knowledge makes up about 90% of Part B of the NDA General Ability Test, about 360 of its 400 marks. The NDA & NA (II) 2026 notice divides it into five sections: Physics (about 25%), Chemistry (about 15%), General Science (about 10%), History, Freedom Movement etc. (about 20%) and Geography (about 20%). Half of Part B is science. Physics covers matter, motion, gravitation, heat, sound, light, magnetism, electricity and the working of everyday devices such as the siphon, pressure cooker, periscope and safety fuse. Chemistry covers changes of matter, elements and compounds, common gases, acids, bases and salts, carbon, fertilizers and the materials used to make soap, glass, cement and gunpowder. General Science covers cells, the human body, diseases, diet, the solar system and eminent scientists. Section D spans Indian history and culture, the freedom movement, the Constitution, Five Year Plans, Panchayati Raj and world history from the Renaissance to the Russian Revolution. Geography covers the Earth, rocks, oceans, the atmosphere and climate, and India's resources, industries, ports and trade. This page holds GK24's topic-wise GK notes for NDA, in English and Hindi, written as short facts and tables. Read a topic, then solve its quiz and previous-year questions on this site.

NDA GK Questions with Answers

Q4401.Environment & EcologyEasy

At which conference was the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change opened for signature?

  1. A.Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment, 1972
  2. B.Earth Summit at Rio de Janeiro, 1992
  3. C.World Summit on Sustainable Development, Johannesburg, 2002
  4. D.Montreal Conference on the Ozone Layer, 1987
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Earth Summit at Rio de Janeiro, 1992

The United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, held in June 1992 and popularly called the Earth Summit, opened three agreements for signature: the climate convention, the Convention on Biological Diversity and Agenda 21.

Q4403.General ScienceMedium

Which was the first nuclear power station to be set up in India?

  1. A.Tarapur, Maharashtra
  2. B.Kalpakkam, Tamil Nadu
  3. C.Rawatbhata, Rajasthan
  4. D.Narora, Uttar Pradesh
Show answer
Correct answer: A. Tarapur, Maharashtra

The Tarapur Atomic Power Station was the first nuclear power station in India and also the first in Asia, built with American collaboration and using boiling water reactors, unlike the pressurised heavy water reactors of the later Indian stations.

Q4405.General ScienceEasy

The energy radiated by the Sun is produced mainly by which process?

  1. A.Nuclear fission of uranium
  2. B.Nuclear fusion of hydrogen nuclei
  3. C.Chemical combustion of hydrogen
  4. D.Radioactive decay of heavy elements
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Nuclear fusion of hydrogen nuclei

In the core of the Sun, at temperatures of millions of degrees, hydrogen nuclei fuse in stages to form helium, and the small amount of mass lost in the process appears as energy according to Einstein's mass-energy relation.

Q4406.General ScienceMedium

Control rods used to regulate the rate of a nuclear chain reaction are commonly made of which materials?

  1. A.Graphite and heavy water
  2. B.Cadmium and boron
  3. C.Lead and concrete
  4. D.Uranium and plutonium
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Cadmium and boron

Both absorb neutrons strongly, so pushing the rods into the core removes neutrons and slows the chain reaction, while withdrawing them allows the reaction to build up; this is how the power of a reactor is controlled and how it is shut down.

Q4407.General ScienceMedium

In a nuclear reactor, heavy water is used mainly for which purpose?

  1. A.As a moderator
  2. B.As a fuel
  3. C.As a control rod
  4. D.As shielding
Show answer
Correct answer: A. As a moderator

Heavy water, in which the hydrogen of ordinary water is replaced by deuterium, slows the fast neutrons released in fission to low speeds at which they are far more likely to split further uranium nuclei, and it absorbs very few neutrons in doing so, which is why Indian pressurised heavy…

Q4409.General ScienceMedium

When a nucleus emits an alpha particle, how do its mass number and atomic number change?

  1. A.Mass number falls by 2 and atomic number by 1
  2. B.Mass number falls by 4 and atomic number by 2
  3. C.Mass number is unchanged and atomic number rises by 1
  4. D.Both remain unchanged
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Mass number falls by 4 and atomic number by 2

An alpha particle takes away two protons and two neutrons, so the parent loses four units of mass number and two units of atomic number and becomes an element two places earlier in the periodic table; uranium-238, for instance, becomes thorium-234.

Q4411.General ScienceEasy

Radioactivity was discovered by which scientist?

  1. A.Henri Becquerel
  2. B.Marie Curie
  3. C.Ernest Rutherford
  4. D.Wilhelm Roentgen
Show answer
Correct answer: A. Henri Becquerel

In 1896 Becquerel found that a uranium salt kept in the dark fogged a wrapped photographic plate, which showed that the salt emitted its own penetrating radiation without being exposed to light.

Q4412.General ScienceAsked in: Bihar · BPSC AE Paper 3, 2019Medium

A hydrogen bomb creates devastating explosion because of

  1. A.nuclear fission and nuclear fusion
  2. B.nuclear fission
  3. C.the use of the cryogenic hydrogen
  4. D.the use of ultra pressed hydrogen
Show answer
Correct answer: A. nuclear fission and nuclear fusion

A hydrogen bomb, also called a thermonuclear bomb, works in two steps. A fission explosion of uranium or plutonium produces the temperature of millions of degrees needed to force light nuclei together, and the fusion of those nuclei then releases far more energy than the fission stage alone.

Q4414.DefenceMedium

How much time has been reserved at proof ranges for proof firing of developmental projects?

  1. A.One day per month
  2. B.Three days per quarter
  3. C.Five days per half-year
  4. D.Ten days per year
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Three days per quarter

The revised procedure keeps this slot free at proof ranges for proof firing of developmental projects sponsored by the Government, including those under iDEX, the Technology Development Fund and the Make route along with other ministry projects, and also for developmental projects that the indigenous defence industry has taken up…

Q4415.DefenceMedium

What has replaced the arbitration provision in the revised Standard Operating Procedure?

  1. A.A Conciliation Agreement Clause
  2. B.A mandatory civil court reference
  3. C.An ombudsman for defence contracts
  4. D.A tribunal under the Ministry of Law
Show answer
Correct answer: A. A Conciliation Agreement Clause

The earlier procedure routed disagreements into arbitration, and the revised version replaces that with a simpler, industry-friendly conciliation clause so that problems faced by domestic manufacturers are settled faster, which the Ministry links to ease of doing business.

Q4416.DefenceEasy
