Uttar Pradesh Targets Rs 5 Lakh Crore Exports by 2030: Goyal

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal addressed the UP International Trade Show at Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh on 27 September 2026 and set out an export goal for the state. Uttar Pradesh today exports goods worth about Rs 2 lakh crore a year, and the target is to lift that to Rs 5 lakh crore by 2030.

Free trade agreements and market access

The Minister's central argument was that India's free trade agreements are opening markets abroad, and that entrepreneurs in Uttar Pradesh stand to gain from the wider access those agreements create. Growing exports, rising investment and easier entry into foreign markets would together feed the state's declared ambition of becoming a one trillion dollar economy. He said fresh investment is expected to arrive in India from around the world and that Uttar Pradesh has become a preferred destination for it, helped by supportive industrial policy and active industrial schemes. Large companies and global investors are coming in across sectors, he added, and that is creating jobs.

Why the trade show matters

Goyal pointed to the international character of the event, which drew six partner countries along with hundreds of delegates and exhibitors and held buyer-seller meetings. A show on that scale, he said, puts the state's products, cuisines and services directly in front of overseas buyers instead of leaving them to reach markets through intermediaries. He also credited modern technology, the presence of international enterprises and the craftsmanship and technical skills of young people in Uttar Pradesh for driving the state's growth.

Industry and infrastructure

The Minister listed the physical build-up behind the state's industrial claim: expressways, modern airports and industrial parks. Uttar Pradesh is now present in defence, semiconductors, electronics and other high-technology fields, and he cited the expansion of a large robotics manufacturing facility at Greater Noida as an example of that shift. The next stage of the state's development, he argued, lies in four places at once, expanding exports in global markets, attracting international investment, strengthening tourism, and building global recognition for brands that come out of Uttar Pradesh.

The call to stakeholders

Goyal asked the state's trade and industrial community to take an active part in this effort and stressed that coordination between the central and state governments matters, as does participation by citizens, young people and stakeholders from trade and industry. The state, he said, is laying a stronger foundation for global trade and moving towards its development objectives.
