Why in News

On 8 October 2026 Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia inaugurated the 3rd International Bharat 6G Symposium 2026 at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, New Delhi, where the Bharat 6G Alliance exchanged five MoUs, released nine white papers and brought out the first progress report on the New Delhi Declaration.

Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya M. Scindia inaugurated the 3rd International Bharat 6G Symposium 2026 at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, in New Delhi. The symposium is organised by the Bharat 6G Alliance (B6GA) and runs from 7 to 9 October 2026, drawing policymakers, global technology alliances, telecom operators, industry leaders, academics and research institutions into one room to push India's work on next-generation networks.

Five new partnerships

At the inaugural ceremony the Bharat 6G Alliance exchanged five fresh Memoranda of Understanding, with GSMA, the one6G Association, GTI Alliance Ltd, the 6G Industry Forum (6GIF) and VoICE. The Alliance already held ten global and two domestic collaborations, so the new agreements carry its partnership network to seventeen in all. The tie-ups are aimed at joint work on research, innovation, standards, technology development and the eventual rollout of 6G networks.

Nine white papers

The Alliance also put out nine Working Group white papers drawn from the technical contributions of its industry, academic and research members. They cover a 6G technology landscape survey and a roadmap for research, platforms and trials in India; Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) for 6G; fixed wireless access as a broadband backbone from 5G to 6G; the role of optical technologies; a view on IMT spectrum readiness towards 2030 and beyond; sustainable 6G networks designed for a carbon net zero future; cellular and Wi-Fi synergy; captive non-public networks (CNPN); and security for 6G.

One year of the New Delhi Declaration

The ceremony also saw the release of a joint report titled "Progress towards the 6G Principles of the New Delhi Declaration: Actions, Outcomes and Outlook — First Edition, October 2026". It marks a year since the New Delhi Declaration was endorsed at the International Bharat 6G Symposium held in 2025, and records the actions and outcomes reported by the partner bodies that signed it. The Declaration lays down a shared framework for building 6G as a secure, resilient, open, interoperable, inclusive and sustainable ecosystem, with weight on international cooperation in research, innovation and standardisation. Sessions at this year's symposium cover the global 6G vision, standards leadership, trials and testbeds, AI-native and sustainable networks, spectrum and industry applications.

Exam Point of View

Remember the edition (3rd), the dates (7 to 9 October 2026), the venue (Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, New Delhi), the organiser (Bharat 6G Alliance), who inaugurated it (Jyotiraditya M. Scindia), the five MoU partners, the nine white papers and the seventeen total collaborations, plus the fact that the New Delhi Declaration was endorsed at the 2025 edition of the symposium.

Practice Questions

Q1.Science & TechnologyEasy

Which edition of the International Bharat 6G Symposium was inaugurated at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, New Delhi?

  1. A.First
  2. B.Second
  3. C.Third
  4. D.Fifth
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Third

Explanation

The correct answer is the third edition. Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya M. Scindia inaugurated the 3rd International Bharat 6G Symposium 2026, organised by the Bharat 6G Alliance at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, in New Delhi, with sessions running from 7 to 9 October 2026. Option A, the first edition, is wrong because the symposium has been held earlier as well. Option B, the second edition, is the trap most worth noticing: the earlier edition is the one at which the New Delhi Declaration on 6G principles was endorsed, in 2025, and the report released this year marks one year since that endorsement. Option D, the fifth edition, is too far ahead of the actual count. A clean way to hold this together is the pairing of the edition with its year, that is the third edition in 2026 and the Declaration endorsed at the symposium held in 2025.

Q2.Science & TechnologyMedium

How many Working Group white papers were released by the Bharat 6G Alliance at the symposium?

  1. A.Five
  2. B.Seven
  3. C.Nine
  4. D.Seventeen
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Nine

Explanation

The correct answer is nine. The Bharat 6G Alliance released nine Working Group white papers, reflecting the technical contributions of its industry, academic and research members. Their subjects run from a 6G technology landscape survey and a research roadmap for India, through Integrated Sensing and Communication, fixed wireless access and optical technologies, to spectrum readiness, sustainable networks designed for a carbon net zero future, cellular and Wi-Fi synergy, captive non-public networks and security for 6G. Option A, five, is the number of fresh Memoranda of Understanding exchanged at the same ceremony, with GSMA, the one6G Association, GTI Alliance Ltd, the 6G Industry Forum and VoICE, so it belongs to a different count. Option D, seventeen, is the Alliance total number of collaborations after the new agreements were added to the ten global and two domestic ones it already held. Option B, seven, matches nothing announced.

Q3.Science & TechnologyMedium

After the new agreements at the symposium, how many collaborations does the Bharat 6G Alliance have in all?

  1. A.Twelve
  2. B.Fifteen
  3. C.Seventeen
  4. D.Twenty-two
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Seventeen

Explanation

The correct answer is seventeen. Before the symposium the Bharat 6G Alliance already held ten global and two domestic collaborations, and at the inaugural ceremony it exchanged five more Memoranda of Understanding, with GSMA, the one6G Association, GTI Alliance Ltd, the 6G Industry Forum and VoICE. Adding the five fresh agreements to the twelve it already had takes the partnership network to seventeen in all, which is the figure to remember. Option A, twelve, is only the earlier tally of global and domestic collaborations, before the new signings. Option B, fifteen, and option D, twenty-two, do not match either stage of the count. The arithmetic itself is worth memorising rather than the single number, since questions on this item can be framed either as the earlier total, the number added, or the new combined figure.

Q4.Science & TechnologyHard

At which event was the New Delhi Declaration on 6G principles endorsed?

  1. A.India Mobile Congress
  2. B.The International Bharat 6G Symposium held in 2025
  3. C.The World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly
  4. D.The Bharat 6G Symposium held in 2024
Show answer
Correct answer: B. The International Bharat 6G Symposium held in 2025

Explanation

The correct answer is the International Bharat 6G Symposium held in 2025. The joint report released at this year ceremony, titled Progress towards the 6G Principles of the New Delhi Declaration: Actions, Outcomes and Outlook, First Edition, October 2026, marks the completion of one year since the Declaration was endorsed at that symposium, and records the actions and outcomes reported by the partner bodies which signed it. The Declaration itself sets out a common framework for building 6G as a secure, resilient, open, interoperable, inclusive and sustainable ecosystem, with emphasis on international cooperation in research, innovation and standardisation. Option A names a different telecom event. Option D shifts the year and so breaks the one-year link that the progress report is built around. Option C names a standards assembly that was not the forum where the Declaration was endorsed.
