Shram Samvad on Labour Codes Held at Dewas in Madhya Pradesh
The Union Labour Ministry and the Madhya Pradesh government held a district-level Shram Samvad on the four Labour Codes at Dewas on 5 November 2026.

Why in News
The Ministry of Labour and Employment said on 8 November 2026 that it had held Shram Samvad, a district-level programme on the Labour Codes, labour welfare and social protection, at Dewas in Madhya Pradesh on 5 November 2026 with the state Labour Department.
The Ministry of Labour and Employment and the Labour Department of Madhya Pradesh jointly held a district-level capacity-building and awareness programme called Shram Samvad at Dewas in Madhya Pradesh on 5 November 2026. The Association of Industries Madhya Pradesh and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd partnered the event, which dealt with the Labour Codes, labour welfare and social protection.
What the programme set out to do
The aim was to leave employers and the human resources, legal and finance professionals who work with them clearer about the four Labour Codes and the rules framed under them. Alongside that, the organisers wanted to build institutional capacity on labour reform, welfare and social protection, improve coordination between the Centre and the states, and draw industry into the conversation rather than leave compliance to be discovered later.
Who attended
S.R. Datta, Director in the Ministry of Labour and Employment, presided over the programme and delivered the keynote address on the main features of the Labour Codes. More than 100 participants took part, drawn from employers, industry bodies and the legal, HR and finance professions. Senior officials came from the ministry, the Madhya Pradesh Labour Department, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), the office of the Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) and the Directorate General Labour Welfare (DGLW).
Sessions and the two handbooks
| Session | Led by |
| Keynote on the features of the Labour Codes | S.R. Datta, Director, Ministry of Labour and Employment |
| Employer compliance under each of the four Codes and the Central Rules | Ministry officials |
| Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY) | EPFO |
| Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) | DGLW |
Technical sessions walked participants through statutory obligations and what compliance will actually require of an employer under the new framework. Two documents prepared by the ministry were handed out: a Handbook of Compliance for Employers and a Compilation of Frequently Asked Questions. A question-and-answer session closed the programme, letting employers raise doubts about the Codes and about social security provisions. By seating central and state authorities with industry in one room, the ministry argued, the event made the adoption of the new Labour Codes easier on the ground.
