Tribal Affairs Ministry Signs iGOT Pact for Adi Karmayogi
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Karmayogi Bharat signed an MoU on 13 October 2026 to train Adi Karmayogi Volunteers through a dedicated iGOT microsite.

Why in News
On 13 October 2026 the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Karmayogi Bharat signed a memorandum of understanding in New Delhi for a dedicated Adi Karmayogi Volunteer microsite on the iGOT Karmayogi platform, carrying Mission Karmayogi style training to village level tribal development volunteers.
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Karmayogi Bharat signed a memorandum of understanding in New Delhi to build and run a Tribal Affairs Capacity Building Platform within the iGOT Karmayogi framework. The agreement widens the reach of Mission Karmayogi, whose training effort so far has been aimed at civil servants, so that it now also covers Adi Karmayogi Volunteers and the functionaries who carry tribal development schemes to the village.
The Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan behind it
The platform is part of the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan, under which the ministry is setting up more than 76,000 Adi Sewa Kendras and a network of more than 1,54,000 volunteers as lasting village level points for help, for talking to citizens and for bringing schemes together at the last mile. Going by what states have reported on the portal, 60,507 Adi Sewa Kendras and 1,22,072 volunteers stand registered so far.
What the microsite offers
- Every volunteer gets standardised, mobile friendly learning material that can be opened at any hour and from anywhere.
- The material explains tribal development schemes and what a volunteer is expected to do in the field, and it carries assessments and certification.
- Content can be revised centrally and sent to all volunteers at once, while progress is tracked state by state.
Who does what
Karmayogi Bharat will host, run and maintain the platform, bring learners on board, give technical support and analytics and report progress. The ministry, as the owner of the subject matter, will decide the target groups and the competencies needed, prepare and approve the content, nominate learners and push adoption of the platform. A joint steering committee will review how the work moves and sort out problems in putting it into effect.
Classroom training and progress so far
The online material is meant to go with a three day in-person training programme for volunteers, which State Administrative Training Institutes will design and deliver along with state tribal welfare departments. Four states have been placed first in the queue, namely Maharashtra, Odisha, Goa and Tripura, and they are expected to finish this training by 31 October 2026, while every state is to complete it by 31 December 2026. The microsite is already working. Instructional videos have gone out by bulk message to over 1,25,000 volunteers, and the number of volunteers who have logged in and taken up courses has crossed 500. Orientation of the state training institutes is over, and sample calendars and guidance material have reached them. The Secretary of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Ranjana Chopra, said the microsite has drawn 646 course enrolments and 235 course completions, with 112 volunteers finishing at least one course, and called it a step towards opening up capacity building and strengthening local leadership in tribal areas.

Practice Questions
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs signed its capacity building MoU with which organisation?
- A.Karmayogi Bharat
- B.National Institute of Rural Development
- C.TRIFED
- D.National Skill Development Corporation
Show answer
Explanation
The correct answer is Karmayogi Bharat, which signed the memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs in New Delhi for a Tribal Affairs Capacity Building Platform under the iGOT Karmayogi framework. Karmayogi Bharat will host, run and maintain the platform, bring learners on board and provide technical support, analytics and progress reports, while the ministry owns the subject matter and will fix the target groups, the competencies and the content. The other options are wrong because none of them is a party to this agreement, even though each works in training or in tribal and rural development in some form. The agreement matters because it stretches Mission Karmayogi, which so far trained civil servants, to village level volunteers working on tribal development schemes.
Which four states are expected to complete the in-person training of Adi Karmayogi Volunteers by 31 October 2026?
- A.Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Assam
- B.Maharashtra, Odisha, Goa and Tripura
- C.Gujarat, Rajasthan, Kerala and Manipur
- D.Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Goa and Nagaland
Show answer
Explanation
The correct answer is Maharashtra, Odisha, Goa and Tripura. These four states were placed first in the queue for the three day in-person training of volunteers, which State Administrative Training Institutes are to design and deliver along with state tribal welfare departments, and they are expected to finish it by the end of October. Every other state is to complete the same training by 31 December 2026. The remaining options mix in states that were not named among the four priority states, which makes them incorrect. The classroom training is meant to go together with the online material on the new microsite, where learning can be tracked state by state, so candidates should remember both deadlines as a pair.
How many Adi Sewa Kendras have been registered on the portal so far under the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan?
- A.76,000
- B.60,507
- C.1,22,072
- D.1,54,000
Show answer
Explanation
The correct answer is 60,507. Going by what the states have reported on the portal, that many Adi Sewa Kendras stand registered, along with 1,22,072 Adi Karmayogi Volunteers. Option C is wrong because it gives the number of registered volunteers rather than kendras, which is the classic trap in such questions. Options A and D are also wrong, as they give the targets of the campaign and not the figures achieved: the ministry is working towards more than 76,000 Adi Sewa Kendras and a network of more than 1,54,000 volunteers, which are to serve as lasting village level platforms for facilitation, citizen engagement and convergence of schemes at the last mile. Keep the target and the achievement separate for both kendras and volunteers.
Which existing mission's capacity building framework has been extended to Adi Karmayogi Volunteers?
- A.Mission Karmayogi
- B.Skill India Mission
- C.Mission Shakti
- D.Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan
Show answer
Explanation
The correct answer is Mission Karmayogi. Its capacity building framework, which until now focused on civil servants, has been extended through this agreement to Adi Karmayogi Volunteers and to other functionaries who implement tribal development schemes on the ground. The training will be delivered on the iGOT Karmayogi platform, where a dedicated microsite gives volunteers standardised and mobile friendly material with assessments and certification. The other options name different programmes that were not the basis of this extension, so they are incorrect. As evidence of early use, the Secretary of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Ranjana Chopra, cited 646 course enrolments, 235 course completions and 112 volunteers who have finished at least one course, while instructional videos reached more than 1,25,000 volunteers by bulk message.
