Gadkari Performs Bhoomipujan of Sindi Railway Logistics Park
Nitin Gadkari performed the bhoomipujan of the 150-acre Multi-Modal Logistics Park at Sindi Railway in Vidarbha on 1 November 2026 to lift exports.

Why in News
On 1 November 2026 Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari performed the bhoomipujan of the Multi-Modal Logistics Park at Sindi Railway, a 150-acre facility being built by NHLML with the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority to carry Vidarbha's exports.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari performed the bhoomipujan of a Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) at Sindi Railway on 1 November 2026. The park is coming up on the border of the Nagpur and Wardha districts, and its purpose is to turn the farm produce and factory output of Vidarbha into cargo that can be shipped straight to buyers abroad.
Who is building the park
The work is being carried out by National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML), a special purpose vehicle of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), through AMARA TRANZ Solution. NHLML is raising the facility together with the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) on 150 acres of land near the Sindi Railway railway station. Both the Central Government and the State Government have made funding provisions for it.
What will move through it
Cotton, cotton lint, yarn, oranges and vegetables from Vidarbha will reach overseas markets through JNPA. A dry port at Sindi Railway will be joined to the logistics park, and consignments of cotton, cotton lint, textiles and oranges meant for Bangladesh will leave through Haldia in Kolkata rather than being carted to Mumbai first. Cargo that takes the Mumbai-Colombo-Dhaka route will also spend less time in transit. The minister said the first rake carrying Maruti cars has already begun running from the project.
The saving the project promises
| Freight per container at present | Rs 1.5 lakh |
| Freight per container expected | Rs 1 lakh |
| Who gains | Farmers and exporters of the Vidarbha region |
Cold storage units and warehouses will be set up on the campus so that the larger industries of Nagpur and Wardha can pool their consignments, and exporter clusters are to be developed at the same place. A customs office at Sindi Railway will handle containers coming in from elsewhere in the country and from other countries.
Who attended
Guardian Minister Dr. Pankaj Bhoyar, MLA Sameer Kunawar, District Collector Vanmathi C, former Member of Parliament Ramdas Tadas and Sindi Railway Municipal Council President Rani Kalode were present at the ceremony.
Why it matters for aspirants
Logistics parks come up again and again in economy and infrastructure questions, and the details asked for are always the same: which agency builds the park, which port it feeds, how much land it takes and what it saves. All four are stated here, which makes this release easy to set a question on.
