MSME Hindi Panel Releases Udyami Mitra and Udyam Prabha

Why in News

The Ministry of MSME announced on 31 October 2026 that its Hindi Advisory Committee had met on 28 October 2026 in New Delhi, released the magazines Udyami Mitra and Udyam Prabha, and reviewed the use of Hindi in the ministry.

The Hindi Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) met on 28 October 2026 at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. The news of the meeting was issued on 31 October 2026.

Who was in the chair

Union Minister for MSME Jitan Ram Manjhi presided over the meeting. Minister of State for MSME Shobha Karandlaje sat as vice-chairperson. The ministry's Secretary, Bharat Khera, and the other members of the committee also took part.

Two magazines released

The meeting saw the release of two publications. The first was the second issue of Udyami Mitra, the magazine brought out by the ministry itself. The second was Udyam Prabha, the magazine of the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), the public enterprise that works under the ministry.

A review and an award

The committee reviewed how far Hindi has come in the day-to-day work of the ministry and of the offices under it. The Secretary told the meeting that the ministry had been given the Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar for outstanding work in Hindi in 2025-26. The award is the central government's recognition for official-language work and is a point worth noting for anyone following ministry-wise honours.

What the members suggested

  • Taking Hindi further through wider publicity and outreach.
  • Filling the posts lying vacant on the official-language side of the ministry.
  • Holding Hindi workshops in South India.
  • Drafting government documents in plain, easy Hindi rather than heavy officialese.

The members also pressed for more Hindi in office files and notes, and for speaking to entrepreneurs in the language each of them finds comfortable, a point that matters in a ministry whose clients are small business owners across the country. They further urged that Hindi be encouraged in the fields of technology, management and entrepreneurship.

The commitments made

Shobha Karandlaje stressed the spread of Hindi and its greater use in government work. Jitan Ram Manjhi restated his commitment to promoting Hindi in government offices and took a pledge of his own: to write his notes on official files in Hindi.
