Why in News
On 19 October 2026 the Union Public Service Commission declared the written result of the Combined Defence Services Examination (II) 2026, in which 8,956 candidates qualified for the Service Selection Board interview.
The Union Public Service Commission has announced the written result of the Combined Defence Services Examination (II) 2026. The papers were taken on 13 September 2026, and 8,956 candidates have come through to the interview stage held by the Service Selection Board of the Ministry of Defence.
The five courses at stake
Those who cleared the written stage are in the running for five courses. The Indian Military Academy at Dehradun opens its 163rd Direct Entry Course in July 2027. The Indian Naval Academy at Ezhimala in Kerala begins its course in the same month. The Air Force Academy at Hyderabad takes in the 222 F(P) Pre-Flying Training Course, again from July 2027. The Officers Training Academy at Chennai starts the 126th Short Service Commission course for men in October 2027, and runs a separate 126th Short Service Commission course for women from the same month. Some names repeat across the four lists; only the women's Officers Training Academy list stands apart.
What a qualifier must do next
Every selection is provisional. Each candidate has to place original certificates of age, educational qualification and National Cadet Corps claims before the recruiting directorate that handles the first choice of service. Papers for the Military Academy and the Naval Academy fall due by 1 July 2027, those for the Air Force Academy by 13 May 2027, and those for the Short Service Commission course by 1 October 2027. Miss the date and the candidature lapses. Originals are not to be sent to the Commission itself. Anyone whose first choice is the Army or the Officers Training Academy must register on the Join Indian Army website to be sent a Service Selection Board call-up, and a change of address goes straight to the Army, Naval or Air Headquarters.
Mark sheets and help desk
A facilitation counter works on the Commission campus near the Examination Hall building on working days, with a telephone help desk alongside it. Mark sheets go up on the Commission online portal within 15 days of the final result of the Officers Training Academy course, which comes after the interviews, and stay available for 30 days.
