UPSC CAPF Previous Year GK Questions

Previous-year questions are the most reliable guide to UPSC CAPF, because the notice lists six broad areas for Paper-I but does not say how many questions each will carry. Solving the papers of recent years shows the balance between current events and static GK, the level of detail UPSC expects in polity, history, geography, economy and science, and how often questions touch security, defence and human rights, areas the syllabus names in both papers. The Commission puts up the question papers of each exam on its website; the 2026 papers of General Ability and Intelligence and of General Studies, Essay and Comprehension went up on 20 July 2026, the day after the exam. This page is where GK24 collects UPSC CAPF previous-year questions of Paper-I, in English and Hindi, each with the correct answer, an explanation and the topic it belongs to, so that one question leads you to the GK note that covers it. Use them in three rounds: first untimed to learn the pattern, then timed to build speed under negative marking, and finally as a revision of the questions you got wrong. For Paper-II, read the past essay, argument and report topics. They show the kind of issues UPSC sets, such as security, governance, technology and society, and make a good list to practise writing on.

  1. A.Red
  2. B.Violet
  3. C.Green

Q503.General ScienceAsked in: UPSC CAPF · CAPF 2023, Paper IEasy

Which organelle other than nucleus in eukaryotic cells has its own DNA, ribosomes and proteins ?

  1. A.Golgi
  2. B.Mitochondria
  3. C.Lysosomes
  4. D.Nucleosomes
Show answer

Mitochondria carry their own circular DNA and their own ribosomes, so they can make some of their own proteins. Mitochondria are the sites of aerobic respiration, where ATP is produced, which is why they are called the powerhouse of the cell.

Q504.General ScienceAsked in: UPSC CAPF · CAPF 2024, Paper IEasy

Which one among the following is an example of endothermic process ?

Q508.General ScienceAsked in: UPSC CAPF · CAPF 2020, Paper IMedium

An electron and a photon have same de Broglie wavelength. It implies that they have the same

  1. A.linear momentum
  2. B.energy
  3. C.speed
  4. D.angular momentum
Show answer
Correct answer: A. linear momentum

The de Broglie wavelength depends only on momentum, so equal wavelengths mean equal momenta. In 1924 Louis de Broglie proposed that every moving particle has a wave linked to it, with wavelength λ = h/p, where h is Planck's constant and p is the linear momentum.

Q509.General ScienceAsked in: UPSC CAPF · CAPF 2021, Paper IMedium

When calcium metal reacts with sulphuric acid, the reaction stops after a short while. Why?

  1. A.The reaction of calcium with sulphuric acid is not feasible at room temperature
  2. B.Formed calcium sulphate is insoluble in water and covers the calcium metal, preventing it from reacting any further
  3. C.Formed calcium sulphate requires two molecules of water to crystallize as gypsum
  4. D.Formed calcium sulphate is unstable
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Formed calcium sulphate is insoluble in water and covers the calcium metal, preventing it from reacting any further

The product forms a coating that shuts the acid out. Calcium reacts with dilute sulphuric acid to give calcium sulphate and hydrogen gas: Ca + H2SO4 gives CaSO4 + H2.
