SSC MTS GK Questions 2026

Static GK decides the General Awareness score in SSC MTS. The 2025 notice keeps the syllabus at the 10th Standard: History, Geography, Art and Culture, Civics and Economics under Social Studies, General Science and Environmental Studies. Most of the 25 questions in Session-II come from these areas. History asks the Harappan sites, the Mauryas and Guptas, the Sultanate and Mughal rulers and the freedom movement. Geography asks rivers, soils, crops, minerals, national parks, States, capitals and neighbours. Civics asks the Constitution's Parts, Schedules and Articles, Fundamental Rights and Duties, the President, Parliament, the Supreme Court and local government. Economics asks basic terms, the RBI, taxes and schemes. General Science covers Class 6 to 10 Physics, Chemistry and Biology, and Environmental Studies asks ecosystems, pollution and conservation. This page holds GK24's topic-wise GK notes for SSC MTS, written as short facts and tables at exactly that level so a topic can be finished in one sitting and revised in ten minutes. Read a topic, then solve its previous-year questions and quiz on this site to see what stayed with you, and keep the notes for the last-week revision before the CBE.

Which of the following statements about meridians of longitude is correct?

  1. A.They are parallel circles that never meet
  2. B.They are semicircles of equal length that meet at the poles
  3. C.They grow longer towards the poles
  4. D.They are all great circles by themselves
Show answer
Correct answer: B. They are semicircles of equal length that meet at the poles

Every meridian runs from the North Pole to the South Pole, so all meridians are semicircles of the same length and all of them converge at the two poles.

Q5307.GeographyEasy

The Arctic Circle is drawn at which latitude?

  1. A.23.5 degrees north
  2. B.45 degrees north
  3. C.66.5 degrees north
  4. D.90 degrees north
Show answer
Correct answer: C. 66.5 degrees north

The Arctic Circle marks the latitude beyond which the sun stays above the horizon for the whole of at least one day in midsummer and below it for the whole of at least one day in midwinter, the phenomenon known as the midnight sun and the polar night.

Q5308.GeographyEasy

The Prime Meridian passes through which place?

  1. A.Paris
  2. B.Greenwich
  3. C.Rome
  4. D.Washington
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Greenwich

The meridian running through it was accepted as the zero meridian, from which all longitudes are counted east and west, and its local time is Greenwich Mean Time, the reference for the world's standard times.

Q5312.GeographyEasy

Indian Standard Time is based on which meridian?

  1. A.75 degrees east
  2. B.82 degrees 30 minutes east
  3. C.88 degrees 30 minutes east
  4. D.90 degrees east
Show answer
Correct answer: B. 82 degrees 30 minutes east

This meridian passes near Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh and runs roughly through the middle of the country, so it was adopted as the standard meridian of India.

According to Newton's third law, action and reaction

  1. A.Act on the same body and cancel each other
  2. B.Act on two different bodies and do not cancel each other
  3. C.Are unequal in magnitude
  4. D.Act in the same direction
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Act on two different bodies and do not cancel each other

The third law says that to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, and the crucial point is that the two forces act on two different bodies.

Which of the following is an equation of uniformly accelerated motion?

  1. A.v squared equals u squared plus 2as
  2. B.v equals u plus as
  3. C.s equals ut plus at
  4. D.v equals u plus at squared
Show answer
Correct answer: A. v squared equals u squared plus 2as

The three equations of uniformly accelerated motion are v equals u plus at, s equals ut plus half of a t squared, and v squared equals u squared plus twice a s, where u is the initial velocity, v the final velocity, a the acceleration, t the time and s…

Q5319.General ScienceEasy

A passenger standing in a moving bus falls forward when the bus stops suddenly. This is due to

  1. A.Inertia of rest
  2. B.Inertia of motion
  3. C.Inertia of direction
  4. D.Centripetal force
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Inertia of motion

While the bus is moving, the passenger's whole body moves with it. When the brakes are applied, the feet stop along with the floor of the bus, but the upper body tends to keep moving forward at the same speed, and the passenger is thrown forward.

Q5320.General ScienceMedium

  1. A.Newton
  2. B.Joule
  3. C.Kilogram metre per second
  4. D.Newton per second
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Kilogram metre per second
