SSC GK Questions 2026

Static GK decides most of the General Awareness score in SSC exams. The CGL, CHSL and CPO notices describe it in almost the same words: questions on India and its neighbouring countries in History, Culture, Geography, the Economic Scene, General Policy and Scientific Research, and on everyday observation in its scientific aspect. The GD notice adds Sports, General Polity and the Indian Constitution, and the MTS notice lists Social Studies, General Science and Environmental Studies up to the 10th Standard. This page brings together GK24's GK notes and practice questions tagged for all five SSC exams. The notes follow a subject-wise syllabus, one topic per note in English and Hindi: Indian Polity, Indian History, Geography, Indian Economy, General Science, Environment and Ecology, Art and Culture, Computer, Sports, Awards and Honours, Books and Authors, Days and Dates, and Static GK. Each note is written as short facts and tables so that a topic can be revised in one sitting, and each ends with multiple-choice questions and explanations. The level is what changes between exams: read MTS and GD topics at Class 10 depth, CHSL at Class 12 depth, and CGL and CPO at graduate depth, where questions ask for the article number or the year rather than the broad idea. Start with Polity, History and Geography, which fill the most questions in past papers in GK24's reading, then move to the Economy and Science. After each note, solve its questions here and your exam's previous-year questions on its own page.

SSC GK Questions with Answers

Q18381.General ScienceMedium

Which of the following is an equation of uniformly accelerated motion?

  1. A.v squared equals u squared plus 2as
  2. B.v equals u plus as
  3. C.s equals ut plus at
  4. D.v equals u plus at squared
Show answer
Correct answer: A. v squared equals u squared plus 2as

The three equations of uniformly accelerated motion are v equals u plus at, s equals ut plus half of a t squared, and v squared equals u squared plus twice a s, where u is the initial velocity, v the final velocity, a the acceleration, t the time and s…

Q18382.General ScienceEasy

A passenger standing in a moving bus falls forward when the bus stops suddenly. This is due to

  1. A.Inertia of rest
  2. B.Inertia of motion
  3. C.Inertia of direction
  4. D.Centripetal force
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Inertia of motion

While the bus is moving, the passenger's whole body moves with it. When the brakes are applied, the feet stop along with the floor of the bus, but the upper body tends to keep moving forward at the same speed, and the passenger is thrown forward.

Q18383.General ScienceMedium

What is the SI unit of momentum?

  1. A.Newton
  2. B.Joule
  3. C.Kilogram metre per second
  4. D.Newton per second
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Kilogram metre per second

Momentum is the product of mass and velocity, so its unit is the unit of mass multiplied by the unit of velocity, that is kilogram multiplied by metre per second.

Q18386.General ScienceEasy

Which of the following is a vector quantity?

  1. A.Distance
  2. B.Speed
  3. C.Displacement
  4. D.Time
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Displacement

It is the shortest distance from the starting point to the finishing point together with the direction of that straight line, so it has both magnitude and direction and is therefore a vector.

Q18387.General ScienceEasy

Newton's first law of motion is also known by which name?

  1. A.Law of inertia
  2. B.Law of momentum
  3. C.Law of action and reaction
  4. D.Law of gravitation
Show answer
Correct answer: A. Law of inertia

The first law states that a body continues in its state of rest or of uniform motion in a straight line unless an unbalanced external force acts on it, which is exactly the property called inertia.

Q18388.Environment & EcologyMedium

Which is considered the single largest cause of the loss of biodiversity?

  1. A.Habitat loss and fragmentation
  2. B.Co-extinction
  3. C.Invasive alien species
  4. D.Over-exploitation
Show answer
Correct answer: A. Habitat loss and fragmentation

When forests are cleared, wetlands drained and grasslands ploughed, species lose the space they need, and the fragments that survive are often too small to support large animals or to allow populations to mix and breed.

Q18395.Environment & EcologyEasy

A biosphere reserve is divided into which three zones?

  1. A.Core, buffer and transition
  2. B.Core, sanctuary and park
  3. C.Inner, middle and outer
  4. D.Protected, restricted and open
Show answer
Correct answer: A. Core, buffer and transition

The core zone is legally protected and left undisturbed, with no human activity allowed. The buffer zone around it permits research, education and limited use of resources that does not damage the core.

Q18397.Environment & EcologyMedium

The Convention on Biological Diversity was signed at which conference?

  1. A.The Stockholm Conference of 1972
  2. B.The Earth Summit at Rio de Janeiro in 1992
  3. C.The Kyoto Conference of 1997
  4. D.The Ramsar Conference of 1971
Show answer
Correct answer: B. The Earth Summit at Rio de Janeiro in 1992

The Convention has three objectives: the conservation of biological diversity, the sustainable use of its components, and the fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising from the use of genetic resources.

  3. C.To value and preserve a unitary national culture
  4. D.To develop the spirit of inquiry and reform
Show answer
Correct answer: C. To value and preserve a unitary national culture
