SSC GD Constable GK Questions 2026

Static GK fills most of Part-B of the SSC GD Computer Based Examination. The GD 2026 notice lists the areas as History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity, Indian Constitution, Scientific Research and Sports, relating to India and its neighbouring countries, and says the questions need no special study of any discipline. That is the key to preparing it: the questions are of Matriculation level and ask for the fact, not the analysis. Polity asks which Article deals with a right, how many Schedules the Constitution has, who appoints a Governor, or the tenure of the Rajya Sabha. History asks about the Mauryas, the Guptas, the Mughals, the 1857 revolt, the Congress sessions and the movements of Gandhi. Geography asks about rivers and their tributaries, States and their capitals, national parks, soils, passes and the countries on India's borders. The Economy part asks about the Budget, the RBI, taxes and schemes; Science asks about vitamins, units, gases, the human body and everyday physics; Sports asks about trophies, venues and players. This page holds GK24's topic-wise GK notes for SSC GD, written in short facts and tables in Hindi and English so a topic can be revised in one sitting. Read a note, then solve the previous-year questions and the quiz on that topic on this site to see what stayed.

The periodic law based on increasing atomic number, rather than atomic mass, is credited to whom?

  1. A.Dmitri Mendeleev
  2. B.Henry Moseley
  3. C.John Newlands
  4. D.Johann Dobereiner
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Henry Moseley

His study of the characteristic X-rays of the elements showed that the nuclear charge, the atomic number, is the quantity that rises regularly from element to element, and the modern periodic law therefore states that properties are a periodic function of atomic number.

Ohm law states that, at constant temperature, the current through a conductor is

  1. A.inversely proportional to the potential difference across it
  2. B.directly proportional to the potential difference across it
  3. C.independent of the potential difference across it
  4. D.proportional to the square of the potential difference across it
Show answer
Correct answer: B. directly proportional to the potential difference across it

Ohm found that for a metallic conductor at a steady temperature the ratio of potential difference to current is a constant, the resistance, which is written as V equals I into R, so doubling the voltage doubles the current.

Hydraulic brakes in a motor car work on which principle?

  1. A.Archimedes principle
  2. B.Pascal law
  3. C.Bernoulli principle
  4. D.Hooke law
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Pascal law

Pressure applied to an enclosed liquid is transmitted equally and undiminished in every direction, so a small force on the narrow master cylinder of a brake creates a much larger force on the wide piston at each wheel, which is also how a hydraulic press and a hydraulic lift work.

  3. C.Theory of relativity
  4. D.Henry law
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Theory of relativity

In Einstein's special theory of 1905 the energy required to accelerate a body with mass rises without limit as its speed approaches that of light, so such a body can come close to but never reach the speed of light in vacuum, which is the same for every observer.
