RRB Group D GK Questions 2026

Static GK is not a separate section in RRB Group D, but it decides most of the paper's recall marks. General Science is 25 questions of Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences at 10th standard (CBSE) level as per CEN 09/2025, and the 20 General Awareness questions lean on the standing facts behind the news: the sport, the award, the institution, the state, the river or the scientist an event touches. This page holds GK24's topic-wise GK notes for RRB Group D. The General Science notes go topic by topic through motion and force, work, energy and power, gravitation, heat, light, sound, electricity and magnetism, atomic structure and the periodic table, chemical reactions, acids, bases and salts, metals and non-metals, and carbon compounds, and the Life Sciences notes cover cells, the human body, nutrition, diseases, plants and genetics. The static GK notes cover Indian Railways zones and facts, national symbols, first and largest in India and the world, awards and honours, important days, books and authors, sports GK, art and culture, and the basics of Indian Polity, Geography, History and the Economy. Each note is short facts and tables that can be revised in one sitting. Read a note, then solve its quiz and the previous-year questions on this site to check what stayed.

Q121.General ScienceAsked in: CDS · CDS-I 2021, GKEasy

Who amongst the following is a pioneer in discovering the heating effect of electric current?

  1. A.Isaac Newton
  2. B.Galileo Galilei
  3. C.James P. Joule
  4. D.J.J. Thomson
Show answer
Correct answer: C. James P. Joule

The English physicist James Prescott Joule showed around 1841 that when a current flows through a conductor, the heat produced is proportional to the square of the current, the resistance of the conductor and the time for which the current flows.

Which one of the following statements about lymph is correct?

  1. A.Lymph is formed due to leakage of blood through capillaries.
  2. B.Lymph contains blood cells such as RBC.
  3. C.Lymph is also circulated by the blood circulating heart.
  4. D.Lymph only transports hormones.
Show answer
Correct answer: A. Lymph is formed due to leakage of blood through capillaries.

As blood flows through the thin-walled capillaries, part of its plasma, with small proteins and some white blood cells, leaks out into the spaces between cells.

Q127.General ScienceAsked in: CDS · CDS-II 2020, GKEasy

Which one of the following statements about the properties of neutrons is not correct?

  1. A.Neutron mass is almost equal to proton mass.
  2. B.Neutrons possess zero charge.
  3. C.Neutrons are located inside the atomic nuclei.
  4. D.Neutrons revolve around the atomic nuclei.
Show answer
Correct answer: D. Neutrons revolve around the atomic nuclei.

Neutrons sit inside the nucleus with protons; it is the electrons that move around the nucleus. The neutron was discovered by James Chadwick in 1932, and he received the Nobel Prize in Physics for it in 1935.

Q128.General ScienceAsked in: CDS · CDS-I 2021, GKMedium

We are given three copper wires of different lengths and different areas of cross-section. Which one of the following would have highest resistivity?

  1. A.Copper wire of 50 cm length and 1 mm diameter
  2. B.Copper wire of 25 cm length and 0.5 mm diameter
  3. C.Copper wire of 10 cm length and 2.0 mm diameter
  4. D.All the wires would have same resistivity
Show answer
Correct answer: D. All the wires would have same resistivity

Resistivity is a property of the material and its temperature, not of the wire's shape, so every copper wire has the same resistivity.

Q131.NationalMedium

What change in recruitment policy has the Railway Board made for the post of Station Master?

  1. A.The post will be filled only by promotion from within the Railways
  2. B.The post will be notified separately from 2026 onwards
  3. C.The post will require a postgraduate degree
  4. D.The post will be recruited through a single zonal board
Show answer
Correct answer: B. The post will be notified separately from 2026 onwards

The Railway Board has decided that Station Master recruitment will no longer ride along with other graduate-level posts in a combined notice, so candidates now get a dedicated document setting out the eligibility conditions, the examination procedure and the board-wise distribution of vacancies for this post alone.

Q134.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2020, GATMedium

Which one of the following statements about sound is NOT correct?

  1. A.Sound travels at a speed slower than the speed of light
  2. B.Sound waves are transverse waves
  3. C.Sound waves are longitudinal waves
  4. D.Sound travels faster in moist air than in dry air
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Sound waves are transverse waves

This statement is false, because sound in air travels as longitudinal waves, not transverse waves. In a longitudinal wave, the particles of the medium vibrate back and forth along the direction in which the wave moves, forming compressions and rarefactions.

Q135.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-II 2021, GATEasy

Power of a lens of focal length 25 cm is

  1. A.+2.5 Dioptre
  2. B.+3 Dioptre
  3. C.+4 Dioptre
  4. D.+5 Dioptre
Show answer
Correct answer: C. +4 Dioptre

Power is the reciprocal of the focal length in metres, so P = 1 ÷ 0.25 m = +4 D. The power of a lens tells how strongly it converges or diverges light.

Q137.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2025, GATHard

Two conducting wires of the same material and of equal lengths and equal diameters are first connected in parallel and then in series in a circuit across the same potential difference. The ratio of heat produced in parallel and series combinations is

  1. A.2:1
  2. B.4:1
  3. C.1:2
  4. D.1:4
Show answer
Correct answer: B. 4:1

With the same voltage, heat varies inversely as resistance, and the parallel resistance is one-fourth of the series resistance. The two wires are identical, so each has the same resistance R. In series the total resistance is R + R = 2R; in parallel it is R/2.

Q139.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-II 2021, GATMedium

Cornea in human eye

  1. A.is a light sensitive screen.
  2. B.is a muscular diaphragm.
  3. C.contains blood vessels.
  4. D.is composed of proteins and cells.
Show answer
Correct answer: D. is composed of proteins and cells.

The cornea is a clear layer made of cells and proteins, chiefly collagen fibres laid out in a regular pattern that keeps it transparent.
