RRB Group D GK Questions 2026

Static GK is not a separate section in RRB Group D, but it decides most of the paper's recall marks. General Science is 25 questions of Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences at 10th standard (CBSE) level as per CEN 09/2025, and the 20 General Awareness questions lean on the standing facts behind the news: the sport, the award, the institution, the state, the river or the scientist an event touches. This page holds GK24's topic-wise GK notes for RRB Group D. The General Science notes go topic by topic through motion and force, work, energy and power, gravitation, heat, light, sound, electricity and magnetism, atomic structure and the periodic table, chemical reactions, acids, bases and salts, metals and non-metals, and carbon compounds, and the Life Sciences notes cover cells, the human body, nutrition, diseases, plants and genetics. The static GK notes cover Indian Railways zones and facts, national symbols, first and largest in India and the world, awards and honours, important days, books and authors, sports GK, art and culture, and the basics of Indian Polity, Geography, History and the Economy. Each note is short facts and tables that can be revised in one sitting. Read a note, then solve its quiz and the previous-year questions on this site to check what stayed.

Q262.General ScienceEasy

The centre of gravity of a uniform circular ring lies

  1. A.On the ring itself, at any point
  2. B.At the centre of the ring, outside its material
  3. C.At one third of the radius from the centre
  4. D.Nowhere, because a ring has no centre of gravity
Show answer
Correct answer: B. At the centre of the ring, outside its material

The centre of gravity is a geometrical point through which the resultant weight of a body acts, and by symmetry that point for a uniform ring is its geometrical centre, which lies in the empty space inside the ring.

Three forces acting on a rigid body are represented in magnitude, direction and line of action by the three sides of a triangle taken in order. The forces are equivalent to a couple whose moment is equal to

  1. A.Thrice the area of the triangle
  2. B.Twice the area of the triangle
  3. C.The area of the triangle
  4. D.Half the area of the triangle
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Twice the area of the triangle

When three forces are represented by the sides of a triangle taken in order, their vector sum is zero, because the three sides close the triangle, so the body cannot be pushed away; but the lines of action are different, so the system reduces to a couple.

What is the SI unit of torque?

  1. A.Newton
  2. B.Newton metre
  3. C.Newton per metre
  4. D.Joule per second
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Newton metre

Torque is the product of a force and the perpendicular distance of its line of action from the axis of rotation, so its unit is the unit of force multiplied by the unit of length, the newton metre, and its dimensional formula is M L squared T to the power…

Q265.GeographyHard

The Bering Strait separates Asia from North America and joins the Bering Sea with which sea?

  1. A.Chukchi Sea
  2. B.Laptev Sea
  3. C.Beaufort Sea
  4. D.Barents Sea
Show answer
Correct answer: A. Chukchi Sea

The Bering Strait lies between the easternmost point of Asia and the westernmost point of North America and links the Bering Sea of the Pacific with the Chukchi Sea of the Arctic Ocean; the International Date Line runs through it, and the Diomede Islands within it belong one to Russia…

Q266.GeographyMedium

Which sea has the lowest salinity among the seas of the world?

  1. A.Red Sea
  2. B.Mediterranean Sea
  3. C.Baltic Sea
  4. D.Arabian Sea
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Baltic Sea

It receives a very large river inflow from northern Europe, lies in a cool region where evaporation is slight, and exchanges water with the North Sea only through the narrow Danish straits, so its water is brackish rather than fully saline, especially in the Gulf of Bothnia.

Q267.GeographyEasy

The Dead Sea, the lowest exposed land surface on earth, lies between which two countries?

  1. A.Egypt and Sudan
  2. B.Israel and Jordan
  3. C.Saudi Arabia and Yemen
  4. D.Turkey and Syria
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Israel and Jordan

The Dead Sea lies in the rift valley of the Jordan river, which flows into it and has no outlet, so dissolved salts have gone on accumulating until the water is several times as salty as the ocean and almost nothing lives in it; its shore is more than four…

Q268.GeographyMedium

Which is the shallowest sea in the world?

  1. A.Baltic Sea
  2. B.Sea of Azov
  3. C.Yellow Sea
  4. D.North Sea
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Sea of Azov

It is a northern extension of the Black Sea, joined to it by the Kerch Strait, and its depth nowhere much exceeds a dozen metres, which makes it the shallowest sea on earth; the Don river empties into it.

Q269.GeographyMedium

The Aral Sea, which shrank sharply during the twentieth century, lies between which two countries?

  1. A.Russia and Ukraine
  2. B.Iran and Azerbaijan
  3. C.Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan
  4. D.Turkey and Georgia
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan

The Aral Sea is a landlocked salt lake of Central Asia that lost most of its water after the Soviet authorities diverted its two feeding rivers, the Amu Darya and the Syr Darya, to irrigate cotton, leaving salt flats, stranded fishing boats and a ruined local climate; it is the…

  1. A.Arabian Sea
  2. B.Philippine Sea
  3. C.Coral Sea
  4. D.South China Sea
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Philippine Sea

It is a marginal sea of the western Pacific Ocean, bounded by the Philippines on the west, Taiwan and Japan on the north and the Mariana Islands on the east, and it is the largest sea on earth; the Mariana Trench, the deepest known point of the ocean floor, lies…

Dynamite, patented in 1867, was invented by:

  1. A.Ascanio Sobrero
  2. B.Alfred Nobel
  3. C.Joseph Aspdin
  4. D.Fritz Haber
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Alfred Nobel

Nobel made the dangerously sensitive liquid nitroglycerine safe to transport and use by absorbing it in kieselguhr, a porous earth, and patented the resulting dynamite in 1867; he later combined nitroglycerine with nitrocellulose to make blasting gelatin, and the fortune from these patents endowed the Nobel Prizes.

Q278.General ScienceEasy

Gun powder is a mixture of:

  1. A.Potassium nitrate, charcoal and sulphur
  2. B.Ammonium nitrate, charcoal and lime
  3. C.Sodium nitrate, sulphur and phosphorus
  4. D.Potassium chlorate, sugar and sulphur
Show answer
Correct answer: A. Potassium nitrate, charcoal and sulphur

Gun powder, also called black powder, is made of roughly seventy-five parts potassium nitrate or saltpetre, which supplies oxygen, fifteen parts charcoal, which is the fuel, and ten parts sulphur, which lowers the ignition temperature and speeds the burning.

Q279.General ScienceMedium

Borosilicate glass, sold as Pyrex, resists sudden heating because it contains which oxide?

  1. A.Lead oxide
  2. B.Boron trioxide
  3. C.Sodium oxide
  4. D.Calcium oxide
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Boron trioxide

Replacing part of the soda and lime of ordinary glass with boron trioxide gives a glass whose coefficient of thermal expansion is very low, so it does not crack when heated or cooled suddenly; that is why laboratory beakers, test tubes and ovenware are made of it.
