Which post did Air Chief Marshal Ashutosh Dixit hold during Operation Sindoor?
- A.Vice Chief of the Air Staff
- B.Deputy Chief of the Air Staff
- C.Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Central Air Command
- D.Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee
Correct answer
Explanation
The correct answer is Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee. He held that tri-service appointment during Operation Sindoor. Option A is wrong in timing: he was Vice Chief of the Air Staff later, in the post he held immediately before becoming Chief of the Air Staff. Option B is wrong for the same reason in reverse: his tenure as Deputy Chief of the Air Staff came earlier, when he steered capability development and procurement. Option C is wrong because he commanded Central Air Command as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief before the Integrated Defence Staff appointment. His other command assignments include a Mirage-2000 squadron, a Forward Base Support Unit in the Western Sector and Air Force Station Bidar, a premier fighter training base, while his staff tenures include Air Defence Commander at Southern Air Command and Senior Air Staff Officer at South Western Air Command.
