Akshay Kumar was chosen for the best actor award for the 64th National Film Awards (2017) for his role in the Hindi film

  1. A.Mukti Bhawan
  2. B.Naam Shabana
  3. C.Rustom
  4. D.Airlift

Correct answer

C. Rustom

Explanation

The correct answer is C, Rustom. Akshay Kumar won the Best Actor award at the 64th National Film Awards, announced in April 2017, for playing a naval officer in Rustom.

Rustom (2016), directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, was inspired by the 1959 K. M. Nanavati case, in which a naval commander was tried for shooting his wife's lover; the case is remembered for ending jury trials in India. It was Akshay Kumar's first National Award. At the same ceremony Sonam Kapoor received a Special Mention for Neerja.

A is wrong: Mukti Bhawan starred Adil Hussain and Lalit Behl; Akshay Kumar was not in it.

B is wrong: Naam Shabana was a 2017 release led by Taapsee Pannu, with Akshay Kumar only in a supporting role.

D is wrong: Airlift (2016) also starred Akshay Kumar, but the award citation named Rustom.

Exam tip: 64th National Film Awards: Best Actor Akshay Kumar (Rustom), Best Actress Surabhi Lakshmi (Minnaminungu).
