NDA GK Questions 2026

Static general knowledge makes up about 90% of Part B of the NDA General Ability Test, about 360 of its 400 marks. The NDA & NA (II) 2026 notice divides it into five sections: Physics (about 25%), Chemistry (about 15%), General Science (about 10%), History, Freedom Movement etc. (about 20%) and Geography (about 20%). Half of Part B is science. Physics covers matter, motion, gravitation, heat, sound, light, magnetism, electricity and the working of everyday devices such as the siphon, pressure cooker, periscope and safety fuse. Chemistry covers changes of matter, elements and compounds, common gases, acids, bases and salts, carbon, fertilizers and the materials used to make soap, glass, cement and gunpowder. General Science covers cells, the human body, diseases, diet, the solar system and eminent scientists. Section D spans Indian history and culture, the freedom movement, the Constitution, Five Year Plans, Panchayati Raj and world history from the Renaissance to the Russian Revolution. Geography covers the Earth, rocks, oceans, the atmosphere and climate, and India's resources, industries, ports and trade. 3. C.It was ensured that the donated land was free from all litigation
  4. D.The first donation of land was in Bihar
Show answer

Which one of the following statements for the work done by gravity on a body is NOT correct ?

  1. A.Work done is independent of the path followed by the body
  2. B.Work done depends only on the vertical distance separating the initial and the final position of the body
  3. C.Work done depends on the path followed by the body
  4. D.Work done is zero if the body is displaced horizontally to the force of gravity
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Work done depends on the path followed by the body

Gravity is a conservative force, so the work it does never depends on the path. The work done by gravity on a body of mass m is mgh, where h is the vertical height between the start and the end.

Q3866.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-II 2019, GATMedium

When a ball bounces off the ground, which of the following changes suddenly? (Assume no loss of energy to the floor)

  1. A.Its speed
  2. B.Its momentum
  3. C.Its kinetic energy
  4. D.Its potential energy
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Its momentum

Momentum is a vector, and on bouncing the ball's direction of motion reverses at once, from downward to upward. Just before impact the ball moves down with velocity v, so its momentum is mv downward.

Q3867.Indian EconomyAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2020, GATMedium

The call for Garibi Hatao was incorporated in

  1. A.Fourth Five Year Plan
  2. B.Fifth Five Year Plan
  3. C.Sixth Five Year Plan
  4. D.Seventh Five Year Plan
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Fifth Five Year Plan

Q3868.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2021, GATEasy

The statement "friction force is a contact force while magnetic force is a non-contact force" is

  1. A.always true.
  2. B.true only at 0°C.
  3. C.a false statement.
  4. D.either true or false depending upon the temperature of the surroundings.
Show answer
Correct answer: A. always true.

Friction acts only where two surfaces touch, while a magnet can push or pull an object across a gap. Forces are grouped by whether the bodies must touch.

  1. A.Regulating Act, 1773
  2. B.Rowlatt Act, 1919
  3. C.Pitt's India Act, 1784
  4. D.Government of India Act, 1935
Show answer

Q3876.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2026, GATMedium

For an object in gravitational field, the gravitational potential is the same at two points A and B, but the gravitational field is not the same at these two points. Which one of the following statements is correct?

  1. A.Positive work is done by gravity in moving the object from point A to point B.
  2. B.Negative work is done by gravity in moving the object from point A to point B.
  3. C.Gravity must be non-conservative in such a region.
  4. D.No work is done by gravity in moving the object from point A to point B.
Show answer
Correct answer: D. No work is done by gravity in moving the object from point A to point B.

Work done by gravity depends only on the difference in potential between the two points, and here that difference is zero.

Q3877.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-II 2026, GATHard

Consider the following : I. Gravitational field due to a spherical body II. Electrostatic field due to a point charge III. Strong nuclear force field due to a proton IV. Magnetic field due to a bar magnet How many of the above follow the inverse square law ?

  1. A.One
  2. B.Two
  3. C.Three
  4. D.All four
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Two

Only the gravitational field of a spherical body and the electrostatic field of a point charge fall off as 1/r².

Q3878.General ScienceAsked in: UPSC CAPF · CAPF 2019, Paper IEasy

Which of the following are the most favourable conditions for liquefying a gas ?

  1. A.Low pressure and high temperature
  2. B.Low pressure and low temperature
  3. C.High pressure and high temperature
  4. D.High pressure and low temperature
Show answer
Correct answer: D. High pressure and low temperature

High pressure pushes the gas molecules close together and low temperature slows them down, so the attractive forces can hold them as a liquid.
