NDA GK Questions 2026

Static general knowledge makes up about 90% of Part B of the NDA General Ability Test, about 360 of its 400 marks. The NDA & NA (II) 2026 notice divides it into five sections: Physics (about 25%), Chemistry (about 15%), General Science (about 10%), History, Freedom Movement etc. (about 20%) and Geography (about 20%). Half of Part B is science. Physics covers matter, motion, gravitation, heat, sound, light, magnetism, electricity and the working of everyday devices such as the siphon, pressure cooker, periscope and safety fuse. Chemistry covers changes of matter, elements and compounds, common gases, acids, bases and salts, carbon, fertilizers and the materials used to make soap, glass, cement and gunpowder. General Science covers cells, the human body, diseases, diet, the solar system and eminent scientists. Section D spans Indian history and culture, the freedom movement, the Constitution, Five Year Plans, Panchayati Raj and world history from the Renaissance to the Russian Revolution. Geography covers the Earth, rocks, oceans, the atmosphere and climate, and India's resources, industries, ports and trade. This page holds GK24's topic-wise GK notes for NDA, in English and Hindi, written as short facts and tables. Read a topic, then solve its quiz and previous-year questions on this site.

NDA GK Questions with Answers

Q3721.General ScienceAsked in: CDS · CDS-I 2022, GKMedium

While burning hydrocarbon fuels, if we see a yellow flame with lots of black smoke, it means that the fuel is:

  1. A.made of saturated hydrocarbons.
  2. B.made of unsaturated hydrocarbons.
  3. C.burning completely.
  4. D.wet.
Show answer
Correct answer: B. made of unsaturated hydrocarbons.

Unsaturated hydrocarbons have a high carbon content and burn with a yellow, sooty flame, while saturated ones usually burn with a clean blue flame.

Q3724.General ScienceAsked in: CDS · CDS-II 2023, GKEasy

Chromosomes are composed of DNA and:

  1. A.lipids
  2. B.vitamins
  3. C.proteins
  4. D.carbohydrates
Show answer
Correct answer: C. proteins

Chromosomes are made of DNA wound around proteins, mainly histones; together this DNA-protein material is called chromatin. In eukaryotic cells, a very long DNA molecule wraps around groups of eight histone proteins to form beads called nucleosomes.

Q3725.Computer AwarenessAsked in: CDS · CDS-I 2024, GKEasy

Qubit refers to a two-valued quantity used in

  1. A.classical computers
  2. B.classical cryptography
  3. C.quantum computers
  4. D.lasers
Show answer
Correct answer: C. quantum computers

A qubit, short for quantum bit, is the basic unit of information in a quantum computer, just as the bit is in an ordinary computer.

Q3726.General ScienceAsked in: CDS · CDS-II 2024, GKEasy

Photosynthesis that converts light energy into chemical energy by the plants, involves the use of green pigments of leaves called chlorophyll. The only structure in a leaf that hosts chlorophyll is:

  1. A.Nucleus
  2. B.Ribosome
  3. C.Chloroplast
  4. D.Chromosome
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Chloroplast

Chlorophyll is held in the chloroplasts, the green plastids of leaf cells where photosynthesis takes place. A chloroplast is a double-membrane organelle.

Q3727.Environment & EcologyAsked in: CDS · CDS-I 2025, GKMedium

Which one among the following Biosphere Reserves is spread over three states in India?

  1. A.Dehang Debang
  2. B.Nilgiris
  3. C.Nokrek
  4. D.Seshachalam
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Nilgiris

The Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve spreads across Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka, meeting where the Western and Eastern Ghats join. Set up in 1986, the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve was India's first biosphere reserve and in 2000 became the first in India to join UNESCO's World Network of Biosphere Reserves.

Q3730.General ScienceAsked in: CDS · CDS-I 2017, GKMedium

In human body, the cell growth and differentiation are highly controlled and regulated, but in cancer cells

  1. A.there is breakdown of these regulatory mechanisms leading to formation of benign and malignant tumors
  2. B.controlled cell division and over-production of genetic material occur
  3. C.RNA is mutated and produced in less amount
  4. D.DNA is mutated and produced in less amount
Show answer
Correct answer: A. there is breakdown of these regulatory mechanisms leading to formation of benign and malignant tumors

Cancer is uncontrolled cell division that follows the loss of the checks that normally govern growth. Normal cells divide only when signalled and stop when they touch neighbouring cells, a property called contact inhibition.

Q3731.Environment & EcologyAsked in: CDS · CDS-II 2017, GKMedium

Blue Baby Syndrome is caused by the contamination of

  1. A.nitrite (NO2)
  2. B.sulphite (SO3)
  3. C.nitrate (NO3)
  4. D.sulphate (SO4)
Show answer
Correct answer: C. nitrate (NO3)

Blue baby syndrome, or methaemoglobinaemia, strikes infants who drink water with excess nitrate, usually from fertiliser runoff or sewage. In an infant's digestive system, nitrate is converted into nitrite, which oxidises the iron of haemoglobin and turns it into methaemoglobin.

Q3733.General ScienceAsked in: CDS · CDS-II 2018, GKEasy

Which of the following characteristics is common to hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen and carbon dioxide?

  1. A.They are all diatomic.
  2. B.They are all gases at room temperature.
  3. C.They are all coloured.
  4. D.They all have same reactivity.
Show answer
Correct answer: B. They are all gases at room temperature.

Hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen and carbon dioxide all exist as gases at about 25 °C and normal atmospheric pressure. Hydrogen boils at about −253 °C, nitrogen at −196 °C and oxygen at −183 °C, so all three are gases at room temperature.
