NDA GK Questions 2026

Static general knowledge makes up about 90% of Part B of the NDA General Ability Test, about 360 of its 400 marks. The NDA & NA (II) 2026 notice divides it into five sections: Physics (about 25%), Chemistry (about 15%), General Science (about 10%), History, Freedom Movement etc. (about 20%) and Geography (about 20%). Half of Part B is science. Physics covers matter, motion, gravitation, heat, sound, light, magnetism, electricity and the working of everyday devices such as the siphon, pressure cooker, periscope and safety fuse. Chemistry covers changes of matter, elements and compounds, common gases, acids, bases and salts, carbon, fertilizers and the materials used to make soap, glass, cement and gunpowder. General Science covers cells, the human body, diseases, diet, the solar system and eminent scientists. Section D spans Indian history and culture, the freedom movement, the Constitution, Five Year Plans, Panchayati Raj and world history from the Renaissance to the Russian Revolution. Geography covers the Earth, rocks, oceans, the atmosphere and climate, and India's resources, industries, ports and trade. This page holds GK24's topic-wise GK notes for NDA, in English and Hindi, written as short facts and tables. Read a topic, then solve its quiz and previous-year questions on this site.

  3. C.Static friction > Kinetic friction > Rolling friction
  4. D.Static friction > Kinetic friction = Rolling friction
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Static friction > Kinetic friction > Rolling friction

It takes most force to start an object moving, less to keep it sliding and least to keep it rolling.

Q2307.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2017, GATMedium

Red blood cells (RBCs) have

  1. A.no nucleus, no mitochondria and no endoplasmic reticulum
  2. B.nucleus, mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum
  3. C.nucleus, mitochondria but no endoplasmic reticulum
  4. D.no mitochondria but endoplasmic reticulum is present
Show answer
Correct answer: A. no nucleus, no mitochondria and no endoplasmic reticulum

Mature human red blood cells lose these organelles as they develop. Red blood cells are made in the red bone marrow and push out their nucleus and other organelles before entering the blood.

Q2308.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2018, GATEasy

A ball balanced on a vertical rod is an example of

  1. A.stable equilibrium
  2. B.unstable equilibrium
  3. C.neutral equilibrium
  4. D.perfect equilibrium
Show answer
Correct answer: B. unstable equilibrium

The slightest push makes the ball fall off and it does not come back. A body is in unstable equilibrium when a small displacement lowers its centre of gravity, so the forces acting on it move it further away instead of back.

Q2309.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2019, GATEasy

Which one of the following is an organic acid?

  1. A.Hydrochloric acid
  2. B.Nitric acid
  3. C.Acetic acid
  4. D.Sulphuric acid
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Acetic acid

It is a carbon compound with a carboxyl group, so it is an organic acid. Acetic acid (ethanoic acid, CH₃COOH) contains the –COOH group typical of carboxylic acids.

Q2311.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2021, GATMedium

Which one of the following statements about the cleansing action of soap is not true?

  1. A.The oil and dirt gets collected in the centre of the micelle.
  2. B.Soap micelles scatter light.
  3. C.Soaps are ammonium salts of long chain carboxylic acids.
  4. D.Soap forms insoluble precipitates with the calcium and magnesium ions in hard water.
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Soaps are ammonium salts of long chain carboxylic acids.

Soaps are sodium or potassium salts of long-chain carboxylic (fatty) acids, not ammonium salts. A soap molecule has a long hydrocarbon tail that mixes with oil and an ionic head that faces water.

Q2312.GeographyAsked in: NDA · NDA-II 2021, GATEasy

Which one of the following is not a feature of agriculture in India?

  1. A.Subsistence agriculture
  2. B.Pressure of population on agriculture
  3. C.Dependence upon Monsoon
  4. D.Predominance of cash crops
Show answer
Correct answer: D. Predominance of cash crops

Indian farming is dominated by food crops, not cash crops. Most of India’s cropped area is under food grains such as rice, wheat, millets and pulses, grown largely to feed the farm family and the country.

Q2315.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-II 2023, GATMedium

Which of the following statements are correct about the electrical resistance and resistivity of a wire? 1. Both quantities depend on the area of cross-section of the wire 2. Both depend on the temperature 3. Resistance of the wire is directly proportional to the resistivity of the wire 4. Resistivity of the wire is directly proportional to the length of the wire Select the correct answer using the code given below :

  1. A.1 and 2
  2. B.1 and 3
  3. C.2 and 3
  4. D.2 and 4
Show answer
Correct answer: C. 2 and 3

Both quantities change with temperature, and resistance is directly proportional to resistivity, while resistivity does not depend on the wire’s size.

Q2316.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-I 2024, GATHard

Which one of the following statements regarding simple pendulum is correct? Simple pendulum has a time period independent of amplitude :

  1. A.only for small amplitudes because then the net force on its bob is independent of its displacement.
  2. B.for any amplitude because the net force on the bob is always proportional to its displacement.
  3. C.for any amplitude because the net force on the bob is independent of its displacement.
  4. D.only for small amplitudes because then the net force on its bob is proportional to its displacement.
Show answer
Correct answer: D. only for small amplitudes because then the net force on its bob is proportional to its displacement.

The restoring force on the bob is mg sin θ. For small angles sin θ is almost equal to θ, so the force becomes proportional to the displacement and points back towards the mean position.

Q2317.General ScienceAsked in: NDA · NDA-II 2024, GATEasy

Which one among the following is correct for a person suffering from myopia?

  1. A.The person can see near objects clearly
  2. B.The person can see distant objects clearly
  3. C.The person cannot distinguish colours
  4. D.The person can neither see near objects nor distant objects clearly
Show answer
Correct answer: A. The person can see near objects clearly

Myopia is short-sightedness: near objects look sharp but distant ones look blurred. In a myopic eye the eyeball is too long or the eye lens is too curved, so light from a distant object comes to a focus in front of the retina instead of on it.

Q2319.Indian EconomyAsked in: NDA · NDA-II 2025, GATMedium

With which of the following was the Bretton Woods System NOT associated?

Consider the following pairs : Chemical Reaction — Type of Chemical Reaction I. Fe(s) + CuSO₄(aq.) → FeSO₄(aq.) + Cu(s) — Displacement reaction II. Na₂SO₄(aq.) + BaCl₂(aq.) → BaSO₄(s) + 2NaCl(aq.) — Double displacement reaction III. Fe₂O₃(s) + 3CO(g) → 2Fe(s) + 3CO₂(g) — Redox reaction IV. 2KClO₃(s) → 2KCl(s) + 3O₂(g) — Thermal decomposition reaction How many of the pairs given above are correctly matched?

  1. A.One
  2. B.Two
  3. C.Three
  4. D.All four
Show answer
Correct answer: D. All four

Each reaction is labelled with its correct type, so every pair is matched correctly. In I, iron is more reactive than copper and pushes it out of copper sulphate, a displacement reaction.
