NCC Girl Cadets Complete Aparajita Parang La 2026 Trek

An all India adventure expedition of the National Cadet Corps ended on 16 September 2026. It is called the All India Girls High Altitude Long Trek, named Aparajita - Parang La 2026. The flag-in ceremony took place at Karzok in Ladakh. Director General NCC Lieutenant General Virendra Vats received the team. Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, Dipti Mohil Chawla, joined him.

Who walked the route

The team was made up of 20 NCC girl cadets. They were selected from across the country. Officers, instructors, medical staff and support personnel went with them. The trek was an official flagship adventure activity of the NCC.

The pass they crossed

The team crossed the Parang La Pass. The pass stands at 5,578 metres. It links the Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh with the Changthang region of Ladakh. The route ran from Kibber in Himachal Pradesh to Karzok in Ladakh.

Distance and duration

The cadets covered about 250 kilometres. The expedition took 30 days. The route passed through glaciers. It also crossed snowfields and river valleys. Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh had flagged the trek off from New Delhi on 18 August 2026.

Why it was organised

The stated aim was to draw young women into adventure activities. Exposure to demanding high altitude conditions was a second purpose. National integration was a third, since cadets came from different parts of the country. Lieutenant General Virendra Vats congratulated the cadets and staff on finishing the expedition. He said such activities build leadership, self-confidence, teamwork and endurance among young people.
