Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan addressed the 58th Foundation Day celebrations of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on 4 October 2026. Greeting the whole ICSI fraternity, he praised the institute for a journey of nearly six decades spent in making corporate governance in the country transparent, ethical and inclusive.

What was launched

The Vice-President released the MSME Compliance Calendar 2027. He welcomed the steps the institute has taken for small units and new firms, among them the ICSI MSME and Start-up Catalyst, and praised its fee waiver schemes, asking it to keep reaching out to students so that more young people can enter the profession. He also appreciated the institute's contributions to the National Defence Fund under the Shaheed Ki Beti initiative and to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund of the Ministry of Defence, remarking that when the intention is good, everything turns out good.

Governance as invisible infrastructure

Radhakrishnan called trust, transparency and corporate governance the invisible infrastructure of a modern economy, and said it is what sustains the confidence of investors and of the public. He described company secretaries as the Guardians of Governance and the nucleus of the trust architecture of India Inc. They sit at the centre of this structure, he said, and help enterprises, start-ups, family businesses and listed companies grow responsibly. In an age shaped by artificial intelligence, advanced data analytics and fast changing business models, he said, technology may alter the way information is produced and decisions are supported, but integrity, accountability, transparency and responsibility remain human duties.

The Vice-President said strong institutions and sound governance will count for as much as physical and digital infrastructure in the making of a developed India, and named ICSI, ICAI and ICMAI as key institutional pillars of the journey to Viksit Bharat @2047. India, he said, should aspire to become the world's largest economy, not in order to set terms for others but so that no one is able to impose unwanted terms on India. He closed by invoking the maxim Satyam Vada, Dharmam Chara. ICSI President C. S. Pawan Chandak, former Rajya Sabha member Dr. Sonal Mansingh and ICSI Secretary C. S. Asish Mohan were among those present.

  2. B.Institute of Company Secretaries of India
  3. C.Institute of Cost Accountants of India
  4. D.Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs
Show answer

Correct answer: B. Institute of Company Secretaries of India

Explanation

The correct answer is the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. Its 58th Foundation Day was celebrated at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, and the Vice-President addressed the gathering, praising the institute for nearly six decades of work in strengthening transparent, ethical and inclusive corporate governance. Option A, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, and option C, the Institute of Cost Accountants of India, are wrong as hosts of this event, though both were mentioned in the address: the Vice-President named ICSI, ICAI and ICMAI together as key institutional pillars of the journey towards a developed India. Option D, the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, is a different body altogether and held no such celebration. The occasion also saw the launch of a compliance calendar for micro, small and medium enterprises.

Q2.NationalMedium

Which document did the Vice-President launch at the ICSI Foundation Day celebrations?

  1. A.MSME Compliance Calendar 2027
  2. B.Corporate Governance Index 2026
  3. C.Start-up Compliance Handbook
  4. D.National Governance Charter
Show answer

Correct answer: A. MSME Compliance Calendar 2027

Explanation

The correct answer is the MSME Compliance Calendar 2027. The Vice-President released this calendar at the Foundation Day function and welcomed the institute's work for micro, small and medium enterprises and for start-ups, including the ICSI MSME and Start-up Catalyst. He also praised the institute's fee waiver schemes and urged it to continue reaching out to students so that more young people join the profession. Option B names an index that was not released on the occasion. Option C and option D are titles invented as distractors; neither was launched at the function. Candidates should note the name along with the year in the title, because a paper setter can ask for the exact year of the calendar, and also remember the companion initiative for small units and start-ups that the Vice-President appreciated in the same speech.

Q3.NationalMedium

Who is the President of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, present at the 58th Foundation Day celebrations?

  1. A.C. S. Asish Mohan
  2. B.Dr. Sonal Mansingh
  3. C.C. S. Pawan Chandak
  4. D.C. P. Radhakrishnan
Show answer

Correct answer: C. C. S. Pawan Chandak

Explanation

The correct answer is C. S. Pawan Chandak, who is the President of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India and was present at the Foundation Day celebrations at Bharat Mandapam. Option A, C. S. Asish Mohan, is wrong because he is the Secretary of the institute, not its President, though he too attended. Option B, Dr. Sonal Mansingh, is wrong because she is a former member of the Rajya Sabha who was present as a guest on the occasion and holds no office in the institute. Option D, C. P. Radhakrishnan, is wrong because he is the Vice-President of India, who addressed the celebrations as the chief guest. Distinguishing the office bearers of a professional institute from the dignitaries invited to its function is a common way of framing such a question.
